Hello,

I'm reaching out in the hope of finding more information about William Muddiman. Born in 1899 in Long Bucky, Northamptonshire, he was residing in West London during his marriage to Rose Edith Waldron in 1922. William's occupation is listed as Pte No 7178987, 2nd Leinster Regt.

His father, William Muddiman, was an ex Police Constable. I'm particularly interested in learning more about William's military service. Any details, records, or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your assistance! :-)

Did he have a second forename?

If he served during WW1, you may find records on FindMyPast website.

He didn’t enlist until Jan 1921, so you will have to apply for his record

I am unsure if he had a middle name. There are three William Muddiman’s born in 1899 all roughly in the same area.

William died in 1982, birth date given as 29th April 1899.

I’ve had a look at searching for him on military records but it says no results found when I enter the info such as service number or regiment.

Ok, where did you find the information regarding him enlisting in 1921 please?

Also, where do I request his military records from?

Thank you.

Plenty on google about the Regiment - (he is in the 2nd Battalion in 1921)

This for example -
http://leinster-regiment-association.org.uk/wp/the-regiment/a-short-history/

The Prince of Wales’s Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians) formed part of the British Army from 1881 until its disbandment in 1922.

At the end of the war the 1st Battalion was reconstituted at Portsmouth and then returned to India, where it stayed until 1922.

In the meantime the 2nd Battalion had settled into barracks at Colchester but was detached for post-plebiscite duties in Upper Silesia from June 1921 until March 1922. HRH The Prince of Wales – later King Edward VIII – was appointed Colonel-in-Chief in 1919.
