tracing relations in ireland

can anyone give me advice on how to start tracing my irsh roots at the moment all i have is that my john quinn was born in ireland 1854 but came over to sheffield england and married in 1875 to a jane ward john was a tailor i also have my his father thomas quinn and he is a farmer and i think he must have still been in ireland sadly i have no other info thanks for your time angie
