Thanks Zoe and Pete. I have scribbled that down and will order the cert. It would be perfect if Florence registered his death but I would be prepared to bet my mortgage that she didn't just to spite me!!!!!!! That blows my Ann Herbert widow theory out of the water in the 1901 I will have to re open that one!!!!!!!

May I add something? Have you seen the death details for John keylock Herbert. Wouldn't it be helpful if his daughter registered the death! Name: Herbert, John Keylock Record Type: Deaths Age at death: 53 Quarter: June Year: 1903 District: Lambeth County: Greater London London Surrey Volume: 1d Page: 197

Suzy Report 10 Mar 2006 11:49

Zoe That certainly looks like Florence's Father and family to me. So, he didn't die earlier than 1901. Suzy

Suzy I just noticed it.. Thank you so much, I just can't keep up and type fast enough!!!!! That certainly looks like them. I feel they are mine but the gedcom sent by GR member has just shaken my confidence.

Unknown Report 10 Mar 2006 11:46

Zoe That was my thoughts exactly re the coach man and cab driver, however someone from GR sent me a gedcom with all the lot I have but with a father and mother for them with same first and surnames but different year of births and places of birth plus had Florences mother Eliza;s maiden name as Auckland which is a total mystery to me. I really felt that this lot were mine, but she has been doing it for years and I didn't want to arrogantly assume that I had it right when I am so new to it. Hence the crisis of confidence and total mental block.

Easiest way do you think this is this your Florences father in 1901 Pollock Road head is a Cab driver Edward Herbert abt 1895 Walworth, London, England Son Newington London Eliza Herbert abt 1850 Lambeth, London, England Wife Newington London Elizabeth Herbert abt 1889 Walworth, London, England Daughter Newington London Frances Herbert abt 1886 Lambeth, London, England Daughter Newington London John Herbert abt 1851 Lambeth, London, England Head Newington London John Herbert abt 1882 Lambeth, London, England Son Newington London

Marie I think if you have been told that Florence had three sisters called Kate, Fanny and Lizzie, that MUST be them on the 1891 you found, since the Mum and Dad's names are correct too. Then the family I and one of the Zoe's found in 1881, is correct too. Did you see I had found John's parents' marriage record? Suzy

Zoe

Zoe Report 10 Mar 2006 11:42

Well a Coachman and a cab driver are the same thing aren't they? ~ so very likely he is yours! Just got to trace that other John and make sure he has different parents Zoe x

Suzy Report 10 Mar 2006 11:33

The family you found in 1891, well I think this is the same family in 1881. Some of the names have been mistranscribed (it is a bad copy), and there is another daughter in between Florence and Kate (Catherine) who may have died. Catherine Herbert abt 1880 Lambeth, Surrey, England Daughter 6 John St, Lambeth, London, England Eliza Herbert abt 1850 Southwalk, Surrey, England Wife 6 John St, Lambeth, London, England Florance Herbert abt 1877 Lambeth, Surrey, England Daughter 6 John St, Lambeth, London, England George Herbert abt 1875 Lambeth, Surrey, England Son 6 John St, Lambeth, London, England Heaty Herbert abt 1879 Lambeth, Surrey, England Daughter 6 John St, Lambeth, London, England John Herbert abt 1851 Southwalk, Surrey, England Head 6 John St, Lambeth, London, England RG11/0595 Registration district: Lambeth Sub-registration district: Lambeth Church Second Folio: 124 Page: 17 Suzy

Zoe I'm obviously about two mins behind you in everything I'll keep looking in case I spot anything different. Have we considered the possibility that Daniel died and hise wife remarried and we can't find JOhn as he's listed under stepfathers name? Zoe

Unknown Report 10 Mar 2006 11:30

I have John on all but 1871 don't know what he was up to. He wasn't with his mother or wife from what I can see.

Zoe

Zoe Report 10 Mar 2006 11:28

Ok the one I found in 1871 is a Printers pressman he is the other one from 1881 Zoe

Zoe

Zoe Report 10 Mar 2006 11:27

Just looking in 1871 as there is only one coming up so one must be mistranscribed somewhere! Zoe

Zoe

Zoe Report 10 Mar 2006 11:25

Yep I'm on the same trail did say Keylock Ok this must be the 1881 you looked at Head a Cab Driver John street Catherine Herbert abt 1880 Lambeth, Surrey, England Daughter 6 John St, Lambeth, London, England Eliza Herbert abt 1850 Southwalk, Surrey, England Wife 6 John St, Lambeth, London, England Florance Herbert abt 1877 Lambeth, Surrey, England Daughter 6 John St, Lambeth, London, England George Herbert abt 1875 Lambeth, Surrey, England Son 6 John St, Lambeth, London, England Heaty Herbert abt 1879 Lambeth, Surrey, England Daughter 6 John St, Lambeth, London, England John Herbert abt 1851 Southwalk, Surrey, England Head 6 John St, Lambeth, London, England Now there are only a couple of John Herberts born Lambeth 1849-1852 so you could eliminate by tracing both Zoe
