Not getting anywhere with Ancestry, I thought Login can't be that big and went to look through the whole lot on familysearch - but of course it isn't listed! nell

Well done Robin! Using that info as a clue, I've found 1891: 40 High Street Cwmdare Lewis Beynon head mar 39 collier coalminer b glam Aberdare Esther Beynon wife 40 Carmarthen Login Thomas Beynon 13 son collier b Aberdare William Beynon 11 son scholar b Aberdare Jane Beynon 2 daur b Aberdare >>>>>>>Ann Evans servant domestic 14 b Login Quite likely to be Esther's daughter?! nell

Montmorency

Montmorency Report 29 Dec 2005 17:15

Login is an obscure tiny rural hamlet near the western boundary of Carmarthenshire, not close to Aberdare at all. So how come two women from Login are living in the same street in Aberdare? If they aren't related, it's quite a coincidence Esther's husband is Lewis Beynon, and there's a possible marriage in FreeBMD, Mar 1890, bride Esther Perkins. That date would mean that the kids listed may not be the kids of both parents, and the parents may have had previous marriages. One of the kids is a Jennie, though she's born around 1889 not 1899. If she's Esther's daughter that might mean she was born a Perkins The ages would fit for Esther to be Ann's mother and for Ann to have become a Beynon by taking her stepfather's name

Jane

Jane Report 29 Dec 2005 16:45

merry, no worries, felt awful!! hopefully it will be here soon, xmas post and all that. jim, i did notice that one , its the only feasable one for rees but why would she be evans? i had this with my other side changing from one surname with an evans link. how confusing! the farming link is also good as i seem to remember someone saying there were farmers in family and not just the miners we knew about. thank you all so much, i feel like i need to check the whole of wales with this lot!!

Yes, your quite right, you did say that!! Apologies....I think I didn''t see that message as I had already embarked on the marathon lookup before you posted it......... Well, at least it makes getting the birth cert more exciting.....I wonder what it will reveal?? More apologies.... Merry

Jane

Jane Report 29 Dec 2005 16:12

merry, did say yesterday that i was waiting on birth cert and that i would post details once i received it. ann beynon is name given by relative with ann's prayer book 1894 so i just assumed rees thomas was 1st and only husband.sorry for any inconvenience.

Merry

Merry Report 29 Dec 2005 15:40

I thought you KNEW this bit: ''i was told ann was beynon before marriage'' (from page one of this thread) I spent about an hour and a half crossmatching marriages yesterday when there were no obvious matches....looking for mis-entered pages numbers, because I thought you had PROOF of their names!!!!! Suggest you wait on the cert for L L Thomas and then try again for the marriage.............. Merry

nell my nicholas morgan adopted evan evans by 1871 census.before that we couldnt find him. elaine suggested nicholas evans bingo looks like we got him. nicholas father evan morgans but he could have called himself evan evans!!! sent off to glam records to see what they make of nicholas cos i have headache over him. i know exactly what you mean.

Unknown

Unknown Report 29 Dec 2005 14:33

Jane Well Morgan isn't too bad. I have Thomas and Williams and Evans and Jones! And then I have Evan Evans and and Thomas Thomas and Evan Thomas and Thomas Evans! You think YOUR brain has turned to mush!!!!!!!!! nell

Jane

Jane Report 29 Dec 2005 14:18

nell, i did think possibly jennet, we called her jinnie when we were kids. i didnt know where she fit in my family as both my parents and all grands died 20 plus years ago, so to find out she was a real g.aunt is strange. my other welsh lot was a complete nightmare to find as they didnt seem to exist before 1871 until elaine helped yesterday!how unlucky am i to have morgans and thomas's ?

Unknown

Unknown Report 29 Dec 2005 14:11

Can't find a likely Jennie/Jenny Perkins on 1901 census. Also wondered if she would be Jennet, as this was popular Welsh girls name. Husband's Jennet ancestors often mistranscribed as Janet. I don't think this helps much! I've tried unsuccessfully to find a marriage between Rees & Ann. Another possibility is that Beynon wasn't her surname, or that she was married before. You have reminded me why my husband's Welsh lot are such a nightmare to find! nell

Someone found the place Login yesterday .... pasted from previous thread .. If you look at Haverfordwest on a map and go along the A40 to the east for about 10 miles, and then go north about 4 miles, it's THERE!! Seen on Multimap....

Jane

Jane Report 29 Dec 2005 14:04

thanks suzy, see brain has turned to mush, missed that one completely. i was told they had son edward who died age 3, but i wonder if this is the child they meant as edward doesnt appear for me, but then again neither did death of llewelyn.

Unknown

Unknown Report 29 Dec 2005 14:01

There are several places beginning L that might be the birthplace in Carmarthenshire, but none are called Lergan or Login and the likely ones on the IGI don't cover the right dates. Gnashing of teeth! nell
