Gmail is a free web based email service, from google, that gives you 2.5gb of storage and lets you send/receive attachments upto 10mb in size, so it can be very useful for sharing genealogy files. Most other web based email, like hotmail or yahoo, has less than 250mb of storage and only allows 3mb attachments. http://mail.google(.)com/mail/help/about.html . At the moment, it is not open to the general public. You can only open an account, if you are invited by an existing user. I have 100 invites, so if you would like to open a gmail account, PM me your name and email address, and I'll invite you.
