this is the answer I got We apologize for any inconvenience. If your credit card was not accepted when placing an order on Ancestry, please make sure that the credit card information you entered online exactly matches the information that your credit card company has on file. Even minor changes in billing addresses can cause your submission to be rejected. For instance, the following addresses may often not be considered the same: 1234 Somewhere Ave 1234 Somewhere Av. 1234 Somewhere Avenue Please simply make sure that you are entering this information exactly as it appears on one of your credit card statements. Please also ensure that the credit card number is correct and that you have sufficient available funds. (Even in the case of a free trial, while we do not bill your card until the trial period has expired, credit card companies may sometimes require an authorization for the amount eventually to be paid. If these funds are not available at the time of signup, it is possible your request will be declined.) PLEASE NOTE: Debit-type cards (such as switch cards) will not work unless they carry a major credit card logo (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express) and are the appropriate number of digits (15 for American Express, 16 for the rest). Even with these provisions, we cannot guarantee that such nonstandard cards will be accepted. You have probably entered in some type of punctuation in your name that must be removed if you received an error message that reads as follows: Invalid Character(s) Found—Please Enter Card Name Again For example, if the name on your credit card is John J. Smith, you must enter the name as John J Smith (without the period). PLEASE NOTE: If you continue to experience errors when attempting to order online, you can instead choose to place your order by phone. Please simply contact our Member Solutions department at 1-800-262-3787 and select the option for placing a new order. (If you are calling from outside the United States you may instead dial 801-705-7620.) Member Services is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and will gladly assist you.
