Hi Reggie

Many thanks for your help. I do apologize for my general post. I didn't realize that I needed to click on the persons name - Sorry :(

My relative Oria Kelly transcribed that Family Search record from the film but the Baptism date is a year out. I am not convinced this Samuel STREET is ours because the names Henry, Sarah and Thomas are not family names.

Our family bible records Samuel's Birth date as 4 June 1777 Horsley Woodhouse but Samuel gave his place of birth as Buxton when he joined the Army ??

Thanks again for your kind reply

Cheers for now

Christine

Please look at the posting date, and the fact that it is the only post on the thread

If you think Louise may still have the e-mail she had 8 years ago, click on her name............and send a message.

BUT, before you try that...........look also at the time-scale she quotes..................and the fact that she does not refer to genealogy per se.

Hi, Louise,
Thanks for your kind offer to help with Horsley Woodhouse genealogy. We’re looking to find information about Samuel STREET, born 4 June 1777 in Horsley Woodhouse Derbyshire, per STREET family Bible entry. The owner of this family bible was Samuel's grandson, named Samuel John STREET b. 1838 Calcutta, India. It’s possible that Samuel was born at “Hilltop,” the farm in Horsley Woodhouse that was owned by the RADFORD Family for several generations.

Additional info about Samuel Street b. 1777: he enlisted in the British Army in 1799 and joined the HMS 38th Regiment on 25 October 1800. Casualty returns for the 38th Regiment state that he was originally a boatman, born in Buxton, Derbyshire. Samuel died in 1824 Rangoon, Burma, a casualty of the First Anglo-Burmese War.

Any info that you might have on Samuel and his Family would be greatly appreciated. Again, thanks for your help, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Oria Kelly and Christine Johnson
