Hello Jess, Remember I asked you the “awkward “ who may or may not be at 70 Rutland Street Leicester 1871. On Beverleys Leicester thread last night Mike was doing old address call ups for the town. So I put in. This is what he sent back ......................................... 1870's :- Kelly's Trade Directory ..... The Three Crowns Mews. 70, Rutland Street. Leicester. Proprietor George Cooke. Coach Carriage & Hearse Hire Service...... Black Horses with Plumes to match..... Posting's conducted with care.... ........................................................ Does this help for a census look or muddy things even more? For me it reinforces my LDS research/eliminations. In and out of the boards tonight. x Bob

Hello Jess, sorry I didn't get back to you last night. I have Susan (Thorn) on the 1881 census, she was widowed in 1867 and remarried a Job Moon, living at Dunkerton. Her birthplace is given as Faulkland/Falkland, Somerset andthe family are living at Dunkerton, Somerset (Bath area). Although I am looking for Susan and details of the family, I really would like to find out where her husband James was born - haven't been able to find him on either the 1841 or 1851 and he died before the 1871! Any help at all is appreciated. Regards Barbara

Hello Jess, many thanks for looking for Susan Thorn. She is proving extremely elusive. She was married in Dunkerton (Bath) Somerset in 1859, husband James was a miner. Probably the Susan in Aldershot would have been an army wife, as the husband is not mentioned unfortunately. Once again, thank you for your kindness. Regards Barbara

Barnara, i cannot find one fitting your criteria, one with two sons but no James, - in Aldershot? where else have you located her?

Barbara

Barbara Report 4 Jul 2005 19:12

Hello Jess, Could you possibly look at the 1861 census for a Susan Thorn(e) born c1839 Somerset, husband should be James. If you can locate her, I would be grateful for any information at all. Many thanks Barbara

Hi Jess, I'm stuck looking for the mother, father, brothers/sisters of Joseph Wallis(1859) born Notts Stapleford. I found Joseph as head of family on the 1901 census (42 years old), and obtained his marriage certificate - which has his fathers name as William. I've been unable to find a birth record for Joseph. Can you help? Regards Trisha

Jess, If it's not too much trouble please could you do a 1891 lookup for John and Margaret Palmer in Suffolk? John Henry Palmer born c1869, Suffolk and wife Margaret (nee Sparkes) born c1871 also in Suffolk. John was a seaman and they were newly married in 1890. Thanx in advance. Lisa :-)
