Maggie, That's fantastic. Thank you so much..and yes , have thought about the possibility of Perkins being the dad. After all, Samuels name seems a little odd. Have now managed to find Paling(Spelt Paylin!) on 1871 census - with Thomas going back to be a F.W.K...living in Leicester. What a great couple of days!! Thanks for your help... K

Hi all Bev, spoke to my aunty this morning who is home on a flying visit and it appears my ggrandfather was in India, in 1899 he was a shoe finisher according to his wedding cert but I can only find him on 1881 census. His name was Albert Victor Ward DOB 5-01-1872 born in Leicester. What is the best way to try and find him with this info Thanks, Elaine

Greeting's Again....... Karen Ummm .... Thinking out aloud and reading between the lines... The Head of that household that Thomas was with back in 1841. Was a " Ag. Lab." The address " Heath" suggest that it could have been a Small Holding or a tied Farm ? So maybe Joseph departed this life and Thomas took over..... and got to like the life ?.... We are all looking to better ourselves....even today......? MIKE.

Karen, Got your message and will pass your address on. Mike, Glad you escaped from 1841 OK!! Thanks so much for tracking Carolyn's chaps. Thomas Butler on Northampton Street is interesting - John's father in law, Thomas Hollins was a shoemaker on the same street. Henry I don't know about - will have to store him and see if a link appears. Appreciate your time and interest. TTFN Maggie

Hi Mike, Thank you very much for your help. Can i also ask if it would have been normal for someone to start off life as a Frame Work Knitter and then go on to be an Ag Lab? Seems a bit of a change doesn't it...I haven't come across that before - usually my lot stayed at one job, either Ag Lab or something like fwk for life. Maggie , Have sent you my email address for your friend of a friend. Look forward to hearing from them, Karen
