Hi Scott, I hope you are still checking this site!

Your Dad is my older brother by 2 years and my name is Deryck Alun I live wth my wife Wanda and our 4 children (Cai,Nathan,Natasha and Elliott) in Dyserth, about 1 mile from your Dad in Rhuddlan. My eldest son, Shane (wife Sarah and daughter Sophie) has just started looking into our FT. I did a FT 15 years ago and only got back to the same point you have done. All records prior to that were lost in a fire and the only way to check further back is through church records.Your Aunt Elisa Jones (RHYL), has a Tree on Ancestry.Com. she is most helpful. Explain who you are, she knows your Dad well obviously and will share with you all she has uncovered. Great to hear from you - at last! :-|

Welcome to the mad and addictive world of genealogy! If you scroll down your Homepage, you'll find the GR has some pages of useful info which you can access via links with names like "getting started". That should set you on your way, along with using the thread-search here to see if your question has already been asked. And you can always put up specific questions on this or other boards as things crop up. After a little while you'll be fluent in BMD, censuses, Wills, archives, directories, transcriptions... Google (or whichever search engine you prefer) is also a good way of finding things. Christine

Michael I don't understand why you need pointers on where to start, you seem to have gone further back in a week than a lot of people manage in months!! Seriously though, what else are you trying to find? Are you researching sibilings etc of the people that you know about or are you trying to go even further back in time? Sam

Michael, You seem to have done very well to know as much as you do already. Sorry I can't offer any advise, but, if you find any of your Davies men married Dowell ladies then come back to me eh? :~D You're working in the same geographical location and time frame as me so who knows !! X Sioux
