Well knock me down with a feather! I just looked at the Archaic medical terms site and it says "Chincough or chin-cough Whooping cough " or as the medical profession likes to call it now, pertussis. nell

Chincough sounds like a horrid mix of whooping cough and chickenpox. Particularly unpleasant if you are also suffering from teeth!
