One of the joys of having found a mediaeval link is discovering ancestors in history books and in films.

I've just enjoyed watching the Ridley Scott film "Kingdom of Heaven". My husband isn't so keen on epics but sat through it.

I like double checking in such things who was real and who fictional. I had worked out before the film started that one of the characters listed in the TV guide was my 24x great grandfather. Reynald de Chatillon was in it but I hadn't researched his life.

"Bet he's a baddie" my husband said.

And he was.
