Yes and no. I wasn't surprised that the result was hung - there's been nothing to pick between them all for ages, but like many of us I had thought the Libdems would do better from the showing in the hustings.

I would never not vote - (me old Mum and her Mum before her would turn in their graves) - but I found it hard to find a clear reason to vote one particular way this time and normally I'm absolutely certain.

Round here there's only two parties in the running at all - in fact in the locals the third party doesn't even put up a candidate at all so I've had to change the way I vote since we moved here.

Did you find your voting choice difficult this time and did your choice remain the same or change?

I finished work after 30 yrs, I worked full time when my children were young, my mother in law looked after them and it worked out great.
I am now officially a housewife, I don't know how I managed before.. but I now have 4 adults to wash for and feed, certainly takes up more time than when they were children. Staying with nan and grandfather gave them a special bond, mil and fil were retired but young g parents , it gave mil a more positive path in her life and they all doted on each other.:)

Were you surprised at the result of the election ?

I have 3 cats - all rescue mogs. They got a letter the other day which they're trying to ignore but I won't let them. It's an innoculation reminder from the vet.

We had a dog for a short while before we moved here as we inherited him from OH's Mum. He was 16 at the time and he died just a couple of weeks before we got here having not long turned 19. Shame because he would have loved the countryside round here and the large garden we have.

I've been doing a part time job which I am leaving soon because it hasn't worked out so we'll see what happens next. I may just stay home and enjoy my garden, house and aga. Before I got my job I was loving having time to do lots more cooking and gardening. If that's the case we may get another dog as I'd been used to having one before we married and had to work all hours.

Do you work or run the home, and is that because you have to or because you prefer it?

Yes I have bought some smashing thing things from charity shops.
As the youngest of the cousins I was always second hand rose.
Within my mum and her sister's family clothes used to change hands, I was the youngest so things went from my eldest cousin to my sister ,back to my younger cousin and then to me !
I was well dressed as clothes were immaculate. :)
Yes I have bought from catalogues in the past , but not recently their sizes seem to differ .

I'm trying to get hubby to have a dog, do you have pets ?

well we recycle bottles, cans and paper. Clothing, shoes, bags, bedding etc
we give to charities connected through our church.I like to recycle gift bags and sometimes cut bits off birthday cards to use on my home made ones.
Left over food is often recycled by our 2 dogs lol.

Do you ever buy items from charity shops or catalogues?

*$parkling $andie* Report 16 May 2010 19:05

No , I'm scared to death of the hairdressers, altho the only best bit is when they wash your hair and massage your scalp.
I don't think there is anything around locally like that. I live in the sticks !!

Do you recycle anything that can be, and donate clothes to charity .?

Dau is having a clear out , 2 carrier bags of shoes some not worn ! I've nabbed a pair of boots and a pair of sandals !:)

I try to go about every 6 weeks as although my hair is short it gets unruly if I leave it longer. I love it, it's a real treat. Recently I've also started treating myself to a massage - sometimes Indian head massage, sometimes reflexology. I feel really refreshed afterwards.

Have you ever tried anything like that?

*$parkling $andie* Report 15 May 2010 22:14

I do a big shop on a Saturday and get fresh foods throughout the week.
If you mean individual items yes if they are on a special offer.
George at As*a and Tes*co have some bargain items for ladies , their jeans and tops are great.

I hate the hairdressers and couldn't get an apt with the stylist I normally go to ( I've only been going in the last 2 or 3 yrs as I previously cut it myself for the last 30 yrs ) so reverted to that today ! It looks so much better as its curly and frizzes in this weather ! It was getting too long and I looked like a wild witch!

Do you go regularly to the hairdressers..?

*$parkling $andie* Report 14 May 2010 22:14

Yes, to my niece, who now lives on Anglesey:) She's now 31, and just set up home of her own after living with her dad for many yrs after her parents divorced after 20 yrs. It's old fashioned these day's but she still calls me Auntie. ( Makes me feel older than I am ) lol
Hubby's close cousin's young children who live locally just call me by my first name.
Hubby and his brother (God dau's father) only ever called their aunt and uncles by their first names !!
Mine were always aunt and uncle and the remaining one still is Aunt C to all her nieces and nephews :)

Do you ever buy clothes from supermarkets such as Tes*o (Florence and Fred ) or AS*a ( George ) ?

Coffee, although I probably still drink too much of it I have reduced it to some extent.

Have you ever had palpitations from drinking too much coffee? Or bad effects from eating or drinking too much of the wrong things? Is that cheating - 2 questions? Ohh make that 3.

*$parkling $andie* Report 11 May 2010 11:25

Country, I suppose. I'm on the out skirts of town, within 30 mins walking distance east or west to the nearest town, now but lived in the a village way out of walking distance of a town for the first 21 yrs of my life.
I wouldn't mind living in either of the towns but wouldn't like to live in the city.
I like it where I am:)
Real country villages where I first lived has it's disadvantages like no mains supply gas, we had a chance of moving back there as my parents have died and the house(which was sold last week) we could have moved to, but we declined although it's a beautiful spot.

What fuel supplies do you have / use.?

DizzieLizzie

DizzieLizzie Report 10 May 2010 08:30

Yes we have thank goodness.

We moved to Wiltshire a couple of autmns ago to a road with only 8 houses. After initial chats over the fence we then invited the whole road in (house guests included) for Boxing Day to help get to know the others we hadn't met. (Then we decided to do it every year) That's helped a lot and we've found, where we'd been told that you hardly ever see or get the chance to chat to neighbours, that actually more of them chat now when they see each other on the way in or out. There's only one household we've never met and that's a let out house but it's recently been sold so we'll have new permanent neighbours soonish.

Back in London we had good neighbours too but everyone was so busy there seemed little time to ever get together. Everyone was going their separate ways. Here life is slower anyway so I think that makes it easier too.

Are you a town or country dweller and which do you think you prefer?
