Oh absolutely. I'd change the locks otherwise! Hoovering's not in my job description, but then cleaning the loo is not in his.

My daughter was stuck here because of the ash cloud having come home for a week that turned into two before she and boyfriend go off travelling. I had the first week off to be with them but the second I had to go back to work although it's only part time. While I was out they cleaned the house top to bottom because they wanted something to do. Then they swept the front drive, cleaned the steps, weeded, deadheaded. OH was going to put in a call to NATS to keep the airspace closed while they completed all the little DIY things he doesn't get round to. Oh and they cooked meals for us AND cleared them away. Been brung up right proper they 'ave.

Has it turned REALLY cold again where you are?

yes housework lol.Sometimes I am laid back and don't mind the mess the grandkids have made or whatever else needs doing and just cheerfully get on with it.Other times I get really cross and even if my husband helps it's never good enough and I redo it myself moaning and sighing all the while lol
Does your husband/family help around the house?

Tried to for a bit in the hazy days of youth. Looked back over it a bit later when I was clearing out for a move. It was so trite I shredded it to save the embarassment of anyone finding it. When life got really interesting and I might have had something to say I didn't find the time.

I've always had difficulty even keeping an appointments and birthdays diary, too haphazard with my entries so I have tended to risk missing things. Always managed to find out something important just in the nick of time and had to waste time rearranging life to make the necessary space. Somehow though I've been pretty good at keeping a work diary just can't keep up the level of organisation in home life. Met OH at a student job way back when and he was surprised in the early days how laid back I can be as he said I was always frighteningly efficient at work. Also having just resigned from my current part time job which I've only been in a short while (not like me not to hang in there), my boss keeps asking me to reconsider as she says I've made a difference around the place because if she mentions something wants doing she usually finds she comes back after her day off to find it done and dusted and with bells on.

I've finally decided to keep a computerised calendar which gives me an email reminder a couple of days in advance and I've got pretty adept at that, don't have to fish to the bottom of my handbag for book and pen I think plus the computer's pretty much always switched on so long as at least one of us is home. Also if I'm not around my computer I put a note in my phone which I transfer later. AND - I moan if OH says he doesn't know when something's due. Get all hoity toity and tell him to look it up on the calendar... Ooh err, get me.

Anyone else a Jekyll and Hyde in a particular aspect of your life?

loads,except to church friends as we tend to send one to all the church members and friends to be read out during the notices and give a donation to ,"Help Link" instead,a charity who feed the homeless and provide them with sleeping bags and toiletry essentials.We support them throughout the year.
The cards we buy are charity cards too,usually Leprosy mission and Dogs trust.
Do you keep a diary?

Not really they just abbreviate our names.
I am San or Sand, son is Jonnie by his friends, dau is called Cart,( I suppose that is a nickname started by my son.Brother in law was Dai in school but now is Dave..Originally David.
My father was John, but known always as Jack, by everyone, except by his best friend also John who and his wife always called him Johnnie.

Do you send a lot of Christmas cards ?

like that one Lizzie lol.My mam gave us all funny nicknames."Jane ann teacake",was one".Johnny macatoota "was another".Vinegar Liz "another one.
My little brother was always ,"John bobby"(his name is Gareth lol
Mine was ,"funny front" lol or ,"Paula pop"
Do you or someone in your family have a nickname?

Here's a good'un passed down to Mum from her mother and probably generations before. Now going forward to my own darlings. They don't seem to say it yet, but you wait till they have their own kids.

After you've done something silly and try to justify it with "Well I thought..."

"You know what Thought did? Followed a dust cart and thought it was a wedding."!

Can you remember any sayings your mum said that you use today?

No , never had one. I wear a Clogau Gold Welsh love ring I suppose it's a similar sort of thing. 2 coloured gold.. no stones.

Do you have treasured jewellery you have of your parents or grandparents .?

Silver,although I don't wear much jewellery really.Do you wear an eternity ring?

I'm afraid I don't have a fav, although I've been to Euro Disney and have seen some of the films and read the books to the children when they were young.
...I suppose it would be Mickey Mouse.


Do you prefer gold or silver jewellery ?

No although I have friends who have gone several times.
Which Disney character do you like best?

Can't lie on the beach all day! Always walk every day.
We have a villa with a pool, mess around in that when we we want to , but always hire a car and check out the area and view the sites.
Don't do much more than using a pedalo each day so the children can swim safely far out.(they are 23 and 21 )

Have you ever gone to Euro Disney or the American version ?

We do a mixture depending on circumstance. When the kids were little we used to Eurocamp, then as they got bigger we've self catered. Sometimes we've found hotel offers that make it just as cheap to do that, or for special birthdays for instance we've treated ourselves.

We've done pretty much the same in the UK, but replaced Eurocamping with hiring a boat for a waterways holiday. We don't go on camping holidays as such in the UK - get enough of that in Scouting.

Are you an active holiday fan or a beach bum?

We have holidayed overseas since1976 ( didn't go for a yr or so cos I was pregnant ) Haven't been for a yr or so now as we have had a lot of financial commitments .. rebuilding my dads' house ,and the children went on their own.with friends.
Hopefully we'll go again this yr. Trouble is we've always had a villa or apts with a private pool, and for just 2 it's going to cost a fair bit to do that !

If you go abroad do you self cater or hotel ?

Not so far but I think we will go to bro in law's place in Brittany some time this year. Not been there for a few years. Other than that we will stick to UK, only because we went back to St Ives last year which was where we honeymooned and a friend got married in the Rame Peninsula earlier this year. Loved both so we want to go back. Over the past couple of years we have been lucky to have a couple of big overseas hiking expeditions for our holidays and we feel like doing some simpler things this year including getting round for some short breaks to some of our family history areas so we'll be spreading our break times around a bit more this year.

Do you normally expect to get overseas for holidays? Or maybe explore closer to home?

Have you booked a holiday abroad this yr ?

Now don't start me off. Just checked and my daughter's flight with her boyfriend to Delhi just took off after OH took them to the airport. I couldn't go as they've been caught up in the delays. Should have left last Friday so we had them here for an extra week, but I had to go back to work today and leave them here making last minute preparations all over again before he whisked them away.

They were lucky as they knew their flight was cancelled before leaving the house last week and the same with the attempts at flight bookings in between. But I know of lots of stuck people.

Are you waiting on anyone getting home or have you missed getting away because of this week's problems?

yes and no.There are some things I hang on to as they remind me of the people they once belonged to but I am not a hoarder like some friends of mine.I am soppy and get emotional easily over stories of peoples trials and triumphs.
When was the last time you cried and why?

Oh Yes,
I'm very sentimental, I have 2 teddies of my own and 2 dolls, an ebony elephant my gran gave me, I used to play with, and a little china dog ( like a pup to the big pairs) that my grampa used to let me play with,which my mum kept safe for me when he died when I was 5.
He is over 100yrs old as Grampa had him as a wedding present.
He has pride of place in my cabinet with the elephant (and my children never got to play with them lol.)
