Didn't see so much fuss when the MP's took a way beyond inflation pay rise.

It's not about what you do ........ it's about whether or not you are prepared to make a stand for what YOU think you are worth....

and yes in years gone by people took the pee out of that.....but with all these stealth taxes imposed on us in recent years you can't blame anyone for digging their heals in surely? xx

yes I would support the nurses if they went on strike my husband was a nurse but had to leave because of the money.
But most lorry drivers do not earn that much money because of the amount of legislation to do with working and driving time. But I do support them as I would any other proffestion that deserves better.
But most of the problem is that people in this country winge and whine and do nothing to stop the goverment introducing stelth taxes. Well it is time it stopped, average people including drivers etc cant afford what is happening here. so instead of condeming them support them.

Hi i started this thread because i thought the strike was all about the rising fuel costs . That was until i heard a tanker driver giving a local radio reporter a hard time ,the other day stating that he and his fellow drivers deserved a better pay deal than what had been offered due to the fact of what the job entails . Nothing about the rising prices of fuel as does the news does also not mention the rising cost of fuel.
I like most people who have replied to the thread are not moaning about the increase in cost of fuel .
I think its all about the refusal of the pay increase that has been proposed and rejected, compared to what the professional services and Forces are getting.

Thank you Georgina
I am also a nurse, tha's why I was asking. I appreciate what the striking drivers are trying to do.

This country should be like the rest of Europe (we are still members arent we??) and have mass demonstrations against all of the stealth taxes that "Taxation Tony and his puppy Gormless Gordon" have pushed on us in the last ten years.

At least in commnunist countries the people there know that the government is screwing the whole country so your neighbour is no better of than you are.

I am a trainee Lorry driver, depending on what lorry you drive there is a difference in earnings, all the friends that i have that are lorry drivers are miffed at the cost of fuel in most cases the cost to fill a lorry has doubled. I cant comment about that particular tanker driver but the drivers I know its soley about the fuel costs and the many that wont have jobs soon. I to have friends that are in the forces and they should be paid more for putting their lives on the line often for very or no recognition for the job they do but in the same token people need to stand up for what they believe is right and true not to be dictated to by goverments that are only interested in linning their own pockets.
