Is there anywhere you can check who /what a phone number belongs to.........................reverse of looking for a name and then the number, need to look at the number and then find the name if that makes sense

Google it? That often shows good results....

Try typing the actual number into Google.

If the phone subscriber is listed for any reason, ....Scout leader, Keep fit class etc. you might get a result.

I've just tried it and it worked.

Ah!!! tracing who has been called.......

there is a book by BT that gives all the dialing codes...........that MAY give a clue as to the area that has been called......and what are premium lines or not!!!

mind you you might find that area out by googling the code......

By dialling the number to check won't you be doubling your phone bill potentially?
If you Google then put the number in quotes

Am I being very naive??? Why not ask your daughter....after all you pay the bill

If its a mobile number - ring customer services for the mobile company concerned, they wont give you much information beacuse of Data Protection but will give you a clue as to if its business or residential and possibly where roughly the user is located...it all depends on how friendly the Customer Adviser is feeling

I agree with heather.................get the daughter and the phone bill in a locked room and don't let her out until you know the answers:))

She will either own up and not do it again or make up a name and not do it again..................if she works, make her pay her share of the bill, or arrange for her to pay it as soon as she has a job.

If you are concerned about your daughter's usage of the phone and the rising cost of your phone bill, you can get your phone co to put a stop on mobile/landline calls that can only be accessed by you and any that you give the (four?) digit code to. It's a great way to keep a track. Our eldest daughter was ringing Irish Rep mobile phones and running up a massive bill. We put a block on them and ceased having the problem. Then she moved to Ireland and we now need to ring her on her mobile because she doesn't have a landline in the house she is living in! Can't win! lol

Worth a try though, I think most companies - BT, Virgin, Sky etc all have that facility.

Hope this helps,
Lyn x

Hi all

Can't ask her as she is away at sea ( Navy ) so not that easy..............will wait for her leave and then push the bill under her nose and ask her for some money towards it
