Liz - I don't know the full story of the move reasons, but she met him in November apparently so as you can imagine 1KM is concerned.

But his ex sounds like a woman I'd like so I can't judge someone I don' know!

Are there older siblings going too, who would help this little girl with the letters. Your friend needs to make sure he goes to visit when he can pick her up from her new school and get to know her teacher, he can ask to be sent reports etc I think so not just the mother in control there. If he builds up a rapport with the head so they know he cares they can help him stay in touch too perhaps, in the interest of the child. Hope the mother has known the man a while so is sure what she is doing is the right thing for all the family, or is she just being selfish! Your friend must make sure he is kept in touch with all that happens and if that means making contact with social services or something too, then so be it.

Great idea about the postcards etc.

The mother has met someone who comes from the area she's going to move too so hence her decision I think! But sadly they aren't on good terms so no sure how much she will help! But I agree little one will suffer too as she's such a Daddy's girl..... she's asked him to move with them!! Bless her, in her eyes its so simple!

I don't know how to help but to hear him crying down the phone is heart-breaking!

Awww Pink, love, Im so sorry for him,

I can speak from personal experience on this one, my OH was prime carer to his kids for 4 years, got divorced and spiteful wife said ' Im going to make sure its very hard for you to see them' She moved 300 miles away with his 8 and 9 year old.

I have to say, it damaged him and his ability to make new relationships, including with my older kids.

Access was very difficult as she wouldnt meet half way,

This happens far to often, but I am glad to see a Father that cares. My children's Father never bothered with them til they were over 18, I wonder why, now it freaks me how pally he is with two of them, but could not be bothered to see them or pay anything towards their up bringing. Good luck to your Man, hope he can sort somethingXX..

That is so sad. Sometimes we lose sight of how much fathers care.

What a shame that Mum feels she has to move that far away .

I do hope they can work something out so he can see his daughter more often for her sake as well as his.

That will be hard for him and the little girl to cope with, maybe he can set up a webcam for her so they can stay in regular contact, with the co operation of the mother. He can also reinforce his thinking of her by posting her funny postcards or little notes, so she looks for the postman, doesn't have to spend lots but can send something a couple of times a week, it will encourage her reading skills too. If he buys her a pack of notelets and writing paper and some stamps, and pre addresses the envelopes, to take away with her, she can write to him, and it will encourage her writing skills too. I am sure if he can remain friendly with the mother so she helps the little girl do these things, it will make a world of difference.
Hope things work out for them all.

....................................................................................

1st kiss man is going through a really tough time as it looks like his youngest (she's 5) is going to move 200 miles away and he's struggling with the thought of not seeing her twice a week and every weekend and only getting to see her once a fortnight!

I can understand that her mother wants a fresh start, so I am not blaming her, but 1st kiss man has lost so many people in his life this is just adding to his pain!

Thanks
