When does it stop?????????????

A 16-year-old girl has been shot in the head in Manchester.

The teenager, who has not been named, is in a critical condition in hospital following the shooting which happened in Gorton just after 0600 BST.

Police were called to an address in Ashover Avenue where they discovered the girl with a gunshot wound.

A 19-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody for questioning.

Supt Simon Barraclough said: "We have already arrested a man in connection with this incident and have a team of detectives currently gathering all possible evidence.

"However I would still like anyone that witnessed the incident or who knows anything about what happened to contact us.

"This would appear to be an isolated incident, however there will be extra patrols in the area to reassure residents."

Home Secretary Jaqui Smith is adamant that gun crime has reduced as a result of the efforts of the government over the past ten years

I saw her on TV with my own eyes, not a few months ago making this statement. Clearly it is a figment of everyones imagination that there is in fact any problem out ther.

I was watching a police camera program last week. The English car jacker got a 12 month ban and a community service order.

For a similar offence, the American offender got got a 7 year ban, all of which was to be served in jail....!

Says it all, doesn't it.

bull shit, isolated incident my ass.
i used to live in manchester in moss side. my daughter at the time was nearlly 17 yrs old 7 months preggy, went to shop to get something two gangs were shooting after each other and my daughter was hit with a bullet. lucky the bullet wedge in her back at the top, she and my grandson servived. its been 7yrs since this happened and nothing change at all. they got away with it because people were to frightend to say anything and she still have the scar on her back and still has bad dreams about it. ive never spoke about this openly before, but i get so mad when i here gun crime is down, poppy cock. it does not matter how old your are or where you are no one should be gunned down, its about time england stopped all the gun crap and the law took it more seriously and gave longer sentances. it has really brought back bad memories this has plus im a private person, but reading what happend to that young girl has really pist me off. a young man i new just 17/18 was shot in the head point blank range because he was stood in the wrong place at the wrong time, and he was so lovely, kind hearted and would do anything for you a mild mannered young man, what a waist of life, r.i.p. "J". i do hope the young girl will be ok, please keep us up date. thoughts with her family.

This is so very sad, but unfortunately it appears to happen over and over again....

Even here in sunny Portugal teenagers are being gunned down by other teenagers....

The irony of it is that it is against the law to own a hand gun, except for a shotgun for hunting purposes.

Yet these kids get hold of weapons and how do they pay for them??
