It's popular around here. ;) We should mention that it's free access.

Unfortunately its search function is a whole lot more annoying than Ancestry's, although its transcriptions are more accurate.

One thing I like to mention about it -- there is a linking project.

For people in the 1901 or 1911 census who were Home Children or who were in the Canadian Expeditionary Forces or who died in WWI or WWII, you can request that a link be set up in the census record to the Cdn govt pages for those records.

It's a bit of a nice memorial, and can help others find the info. I've done it for a couple of family members.

And Kathryn, thank you for that tip, too. Hubby and I both have Canadian ancestry (we're in England), so that'll be very handy!

Have you tried searching the border crossings into America on Ancestry Annie? or even EllisIsland.org.....which is free

They may have gone walkabout for a while....I know some of mine did.

The linking project is not likely going to be useful to many people here, but I thought I'd give a demo for anyone interested.

-- Although -- just last night I found somebody a missing child from London, England, in the Home Children records, and then in the 1911 census in Quebec, and then in the WWI soldiers of the CEF records, so he's a prime candidate for some linking.

The other is to the page of the Virtual War Memorial commemorating his death -- you can click on
