Telephone call at 8am to let us know that the units we have ordered will be arriving tomorrow between 8am and 1pm. We have to collect the worktops from the store separately. Did that today.

A list of all the items required for the job has been made by hubby.... and I have spent the weekend wailing *I've got one of those somewhere* and then dismantling the house to look for said item!
(I have a thing about buying stuff from DIY places, especially if I have no idea what they are for... you never know when you might need it, lol)

Any items not found have been purchased today.

Hubby has put one bag of self-levelling floor stuff into trolley.

I think we'll need more.

Tiff number one has happened!!

We have resolved it by having a bet about how many more bags we are likely to need... he says none, I say two more, making three bags in all.

We both know the reality is likely to be somewhere in the middle as he under estimates and I over estimate.

I am about to start emptying cupboards and stuff with him.

If I am not on the boards at tea break time, we have murdered each other.

Please note that the units haven't even arrived yet!!

;¬)))

Love

Daff. pmsl, you should have seen me years ago when I was starting on the house, went to the two Texas diy stores that were closing down, yes that's how long ago lol, and bought so much when it was 75% off, how could I not, for when I needed it in the house, then everything came to a standstill and it still isn't used, the wall paper is out of date pattern now, but will hang on to it till it comes back in (in my lifetime??) Lugged it all home in my poor old Hillman Avenger, wardrobe doors the lot lol

Have fun,
Lizxxxx

Oh, I do not envy you!!
Would not like to go through that again for a very long time.
At least you get bacon breakfasts brought up to you, though!
I hope you finally got your cupboard situations sorted?
Are you having two up and two down either side of your stove? Any rails?

Good luck Daff x

pmsl, me and husband only made the mistake of fitting a kitchen ourselves once!! Quite how our marriage survived after the rows and physical injuries I don't know, but it did LOL

But it was a lesson learnt.......pay someone who knows what they're doing cos it looked a right mess by the time husband had finished.....bless him he's very trying! LOL

Jo... we decided on no frills, no rails... less to get mucky, lol But I have had my own way with the design..... *HUGE grin*

Liz... I don't have dodgy wallpaper.... but I DO have loads and loads of dodgy material, lol!! A garage full!

Maz, we (I ) have decided to attempt one small area of said kitchen........ if it doesn't work out, we will call in the experts for the rest! (I mean, I will call in the experts!! lol ;¬))

Mary.... we had spent 34 years of hubby saying *I could do that* and now he wants to try.... but I am letting him loose in a small little area first..... I am all ready to call the builders in (they are great, did our conservatory and all the bashing down of walls etc for us, and are on standby ;¬)) OH is very good, but a bit of a perfectionist.... this might take longer than he expects or I will tolerate, lol..... I am a bit more of the *dive in and have a bash, read the destructions later* brigade!!

Oh dear Susan, ;¬((( It has taken forever, it seems.... I do hope you get it all sorted soon. xxxx

The stuff arrives tomorrow, along with the plumber!! This should be good!!

Love and night night

Daff xxxx

*whispers* Stuff has arrived.... hubby is currently sorting it all into groups!! I am taking a break.. I was up just before 6 and hubby ambled downstairs at 7.50. I had cleared the kitchen by then.... conservatory looks like a junkyard.

OH had ciggy, coffee, ciggy, shower, ciggy, coffee, and was then ready to start dismantling the units in the area we are concentrating on... 10 screws later, screwdriver draws first blood, and it is still only 9.15.

Bleeding stemmed, coffee, ciggy..... ready to start again...... family legend has it that hubby has only to look at a screwdriver, and it will attack his hands.... this is soooooo true.

9.25, second blood is drawn.

By 12.25, the dismantled units have been put in what was the *dining room* part of the kitchen before knocking the walls down.

And hubby has skinned every knuckle and taken chunks out of one thumb and two fingers.

12.30, Delivery men arrive with the new units.

The air hasn't turned blue yet.... so I don't think he has done any further damage, for now :¬))

*sighs* had better go down and supervise, lol!

Best way to "Supervise" is to retire to decent Hotel untill the kitchen is Installed. Then come back to "Criticise" then "Run like Hell back to Hotel".**M**.:o)>.pmsl.

We Wizards try to be Helpful, however after installing New Kitchens in Various Houses we,ve owned I decided the best thing ( and Easiest ) was to send Sasha to a Hotel till it was finished.Complete peace for a few days,( And I turned off the Phone ).**M**.:o)>.
