Agree with all the above,

plus look at 1881 census which is free on family search (and ancestry I think, it used to be free anyway)

and don't be too worried about how many names you can get. It's great to have have a tree with lots of flourishing branches but it's when you start to get some knowledge and some stories behind the names that it really comes to life and means something special.

Also google place names (or people's names) that hold a lot of interest on your tree, you might find websites of local family history societies which could be very helpful.

Get all the info you can from family, try to get back to the 1901 census,then back through to 1841 census, then your into the IGI and parish records, then take care, its so easy to get going down the wrong line.

There are loads of lovely helpful people on the "trying to find" if you put what information you know on there and what you'd like to find, incredible people go out o f their way to help..

ps give up hope of having a clean home, or well fed kids..lol xx
