What is the OEM? is it the same as putting a new application on a empty machine?

Thanks
Gill

Basically there are two sorts of Windows OEM discs.
The first one is the one that ships with a computer and can only work on that computer - very often it will not even work if you retain the system but change some of the components.
The second one is the sort that can be purchased individually.
Make sure that is is the second one that you are purchasing - some unscrupulous people do try to sell on the first type!
Also, you will probably find that it is branded - Acer, Dell, Toshiba etc

Surely if it is genuinely the fault of BT then BT should be held responsible.

ok that one will be fine although you may find it cheaper on eBay.
It will probably ship with a little bit of hardware (in all likelihood something like a ribbon connector). Ignore it. This is only so they can get around the licensing and OEM conditions.
