hi there.i've not used these forums before and am not sure if this is the right one but here goes anyway.
as all my family come from scotland i have been using the scotlands people site to get my information.the site is very good,it is however proving quite costly having to buy units all the time.does anyone know of a site with scottish records that works on a one off yearly subscription basis rather than buying credits.
many thanks anne.

Ancestry has the census records but they are just transcriptions - you don't get to see the originals.

Hello Anne,

As Secret Red Squirrel has said Ancestry have just transcriptions of census unlike Scotlands people where you can see the actual image. Also for Births, marriages and deaths you need Scotlands People, it is expensive but then when people on GR find a birth, marriage or death record on Ancestry they then have to buy each certificate which adds to the cost of their yearly subscription on Ancestry.

All in all apart from Census Scotlands People is cheaper at the end of the day I think!!!!
