It is a worrying situation and at the mo, the government gets off lightly, as they are getting some of their people cared for for peanuts. If all those being cared for at home had to go into homes and be paid for by the government, it would cost them huge amounts, yet they pay a pittance to those able and willing to have their loved ones at home, even to the detriment to their own health and welfare. |

Hello. I am a carer for my husband who has Macular Degeneration, Emphysema, Vascular Dementia and now Lung Cancer,in Australia. I think we are treated quite well here.As well as the Carer Allowance, we get a yearly bonus which comes in very handy. |

Luckily for me we are ok financially and a lot goes on in this area for carers......BUT I am always a one to fight for those less fortunate hence this thread and I will try to go to any events locally to lend support. |

We seem to be less valued than the unemployed.Yes,we,personally, are paid £50ish a week. Some of us may be part of very affluent families,so may the unemployed. They still are entitled to free education, prescriptions, cheap leisure facilities and other things that do not spring readily to mind without having to go through any rigmarole.I can't say for sure but Idon't think we are even entitled to use the PDSA. |
