They are coming to do us a new kitchen and bathroom .
we are on the second wave.... so it will be about 2 years for us.
the thing is, the older you get, the more difficult it is to decorate!!

Ah well.

Hi L Pussercat

Just a little tip for you
My OH worked in several council areas and His tip is take photo's of your house/deco whereever they are going to be working.
He does take photo's to prove what the house was like before they start and after they done. He has been took for a ride by several tennants so he plays safe now!

hi all i had rewire and new kitchen and bathroom by coast & country housing (redcar & cleveland council) what a mess!! they didnt care they were in someones home, my things went missing, my newly plastered walls that i paid for were damaged, tumble drier was broken, my fish tank was cracked so i had to give all my fish away as i couldnt afford a new tank. someone cut them self and just wiped blood on my wall another wrote addresses on my wall! everythings a mess fitted by cowboys 2years im still repairing the damage. because im a single mother they treat me like scum and didnt want to know, i work full time (not that that should make a difference) and pay £345 rent per month and they still think they are doing me a favour!!!
sorry for the moan guys, i feel better now thats off my chest

Is it still the council that are in charge? i thought that in the main housing associations had taken over.

I suppose, if you think about it, at least they have given you 6 months notice.

I have a similar problem. I hate the kitchen & bathroom in my council house. I want to replace them now but my brother in law who works for the council has told me that all kitchens & bathrooms are being replaced very soon & even if I put new ones in now the council will still pull them out & put their new ones in so not to waste my money.

bob no doubt the rent will go up lol
julia s awfull , if you write a letter into our council regarding any thing its never answerd , i guess its safer to be done as we still have the sockets without switches and a 1960s bathroom xx

This has happened to me more than once. When contemplating doing something once, I even rang the council and asked them if they had any work scheduled in the foreseable future. Their answer was no, so we went ahead and did whatever it was we wanted to do. Six months later, yes, you can guess what happened. Around here, there is no co-operation between council and tenant. They just assume that we are all down and outs, drawing off the social, who don't spend their own money to make the property nice, and they are doing us a favour by doing these major repairs/alterations.

look on the bright side, at least YOU wont have to pay for the rewire, and plumbing!!
