for the results of second blood test - due to high cholestrol etc. Been taking tablets for 3 months and had been good with regards to my diet - although only lost half a stone in 3 months. Was dreading the results BUT guess what ??? Everything had gone down by almost a half and I am know in the required boundaries. Doctor was very pleased and kept saying moy biene - I was so chuffed AND best of all he said red wine was good for cholestrol !!! An added bonus - lol

Brilliant news Mary!!!
Just like to add, that, when I found I only had one kidney and visited the nephrologist, I pointed out that I actually dislike drinking water, but drank a lot of tea, enjoyed a glass or 2, maybe 3 of plonk in the evening - and would that be harming my (still healthy after 51 years of alleged misuse) kidney, and mentioned that I'd always been able to 'feel' the kidney after nights out on the razz in my youth - what harm had I done?
She said my 'feeling' my kidney was because it's quite large and working for two. As I'm quite small, it was fairly near the surface and all I could feel was it working overtime. I could drink ANY liquid - including alcohol - and it would all be to the good for Kevin my kidney!!

Havent seen a liver specialist yet though!! LOL

Morning Daff - hope your test results are good today. Know exactly how you are feeling - I was dreading mine. But for 3 months I have lived on chicken . only had red meat twice a week - no cheese - well ok have cheated a little with that and had gouda light - must now try and find a happy medium cos as they say life is for living. Regards the red wine - never thought to ask how many buckets I could have a week - lol

Hi Mary. I've got to go for my chloresterol results next Thurs after being on statins for 3 months. He says it will have gone down but hes upping the dosage anyway!!
Have had some conflicting advice on whether you still need a low fat diet whilst on tablets so I asked him and he said. You can only get your cholesterol down by 15% on a low fat diet alone, so now on tablets just have moderately low fat diet - lifes for living!!
Unfortunately for me I need to lose weight so will have to ignore him!

MaryinSpain Report 27 Jun 2008 15:02

Thanks for all replies - you cannot image, or perhaps you can, how relieved I was. But I shall stick to my new eating pattern and hopefully get cholestrol even lower and loose some more weight. I know I should exervise more but during the summer months here it is so hot and humid so will just have to go and do more swimming in the sea.
Jules - hope the weather improves for you and Pat and enjoy your 6 days camping - have fun.
Love Mary xx
