Same with Sainsbury and Tesco...............but if you use the smaller shops too you can still find bargains.

ditto Jen, at Tescos.......they are advertising low prices as from tomorrow........why not on Saturday or at the weekend when a lot of people get paid.... these supermarkets make so much profit, and I know for a fact that there is a lot thrown away because the bread and vegetables were collected to give to the horses......

But how many smaller shops would I have to visit, as time is also important to me, and I do like weight watcher products, and hubby likes kellogs and walkers, perhaps we have expensive tastes, but then again the price of petrol has rocketed so driving around costs a small fortune, have to do more overtime then too busy to shop. We find shopping Tuesdays is best as there are usually reduced goods then ( short sell be dates but fine to put in the freezer). However that is not good for those who work. I think Lidl and Aldi are probably the cheapest but we don't shop there.

I do a big shop on-line once a month and use mysupermarket.co.uk - once you've listed all your items it shows you the cheapest place to check out, shopping on line also gives you time to compare prices - you have to pay for delivery but if you shop mid-week the delivery is cheaper.

Having said all that, my monthly bill normally comes to about £120 (not counting meat, veg, fruit, bread etc) and this month it's almost £200 and I haven't bought anything too extravagant (there's only the two of us... and the cat) I can't believe how much the basics have gone up!

Over heard a row going on in Tescos today about the price label they put up on certain items claiming they are cheaper then Asda,Morrisons ~well the woman said look again at the label you are 24p dearer ~you have seen a label come off so quick.....
Think i will be doing a lot more checking on labels before buying.
