I have just become a member of this site and The owner of my tree is coming up with my husbands name. Is there anyway I can change the name of the owner of my own tree.

Hello Clair.... welcome to GR

If you want to change the name of the account holder, go int My Account and change the details in there.... remember to press save! You must have your name Clair as the first name, anyway, cos that is the default name.

Is your husband named as the focal member of your tree? I think that might alter things slightly.... you will need to alter that but not sure how to... will get back to you on that one! lol

I had that problem.................I had to ask GR to change it for me.

They did it the same day.

Thankyou. I have just contacted them and asked them how I do it. I have no idea what focal member means lol so I thought it would be best to ask them and then they might take pitty on me and do it for me.

oops, sorry clair... focal person on your tree is the one you choose to have as the person all the other people on your tree are related to!

On GR it is me, but on my Family Tree Maker I have two others, one for each of my granddaughters, so that they become the person everyone else relates to! Does that make more sense?

Awww Clair................it is when you open the tree and he is named as the owner.

They will do it..................they are really good.

I kept reporting myself ( and poor stray) to abuse instead of clicking add................they explained it to me in really easy to understand words ! LOL

Thanks Daff. Yep that makes more sense but I still have no idea how to change it LOL

I will see if they take pitty on me before I go and delete all my bits and bobs. Not that I have a lot on at the mo but hopefully add to it shortly LOL
