I'm back from a week of no internet.The computer has been taken over by my extended family,including my 4 and 5 year old great grandchildren who asked me to get microsoft word up for them so they could write a story,and my 7 year old granddaughter knew how to save it!!!!
Ive cooked for 17,run around after them,played games with the children,and loved every minute...but am exhausted now,as son and family over from Oz have moved on to his mother-in laws about 7 miles away,and the house seems very quiet,as we have had some in a caravan,and 4 grown grandsons sleeping on blow-up beds....a question.........Why do the younger ones (and I am including a 49 daughter,and 46 year old son,think you can work and work as you always did?Why is it always grandma the kids keep running to?
I used to run around after my mum long before she was my age!
Is it a compliment or am I just a willing horse?
Must get to bed early tonight,as I have only had about 5 hours per night for over a week.
Think the girls will enjoy this one.

Skinny people irritate me! Especially when they say things like...'You know sometimes I forget to eat!' ........Now I've forgotten my address, my mother's maiden name and my keys, but I have never forgotten to eat. You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat!
The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing and then they marry him.
I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That's my idea of a perfect day!

Brenda, I am so glad you have had such a lovely time with your family albeit an exhausting one!
My brothers used to behave that way with my late Mum, when she was alive of course. They would turn up for Sunday afternoon tea and swan off leaving her to do all the tidying and washing up, unless of course I was there when I would do it. I got wise tho and started visiting on a different day, as it annoyed me my sisters in law sat there like lady muck and never lifted a hand.
As you say, willing horse, but maybe another time, sort out a rota lol
I know it was your family's holiday but even so would be nice if they had cooked and washed up for you a few times, while you just chilled with the children.
Never mind, the grandchildren will be older next visit so you can rope them in to help more.

Thank you girls for understanding.
I am not complaining,and 24 year old granddaughter and d.i.l did help,and I must admit I do like buzzing around seeing every-one is OK.The thing I am saying is that they don't realise I am 73.
The washer and drier have been on constantly.It's been like a chinese laundry here.
We had a lovely meal out at the venue we had for our N.Wales meet,and the same long table,and the food was just as good.and we were there for over 4 hours last Saturday,and the children had plenty of room to play out.
Trying to relax now.Will hoover up tomorrow.

Things you do for your kids !
Son and DIL wanted to borrow our caravan last weekend to go to a doggy meet in Suffolk (about 65 miles from home).
So on Friday I left work at 3.00, drove home on the scooter (42 miles, having already driven the same distance in).
Picked up the van and went up to Suffolk then pitched it for them.
Drove home and got home 11.10.
That made a total of about 215 miles for the day.
Sunday went up and picked it up, returned home via their house to unload their stuff. Another 140 miles.
I must be getting old as I had trouble staying awake at work yesterday !

Sounds like you've been having lots of fun with your family Brenda, but understand completely about the 'running around bit' I'm always being told to "sit down mam" but we love it really! lol and it is soo nice to know we're still needed (think i've just typed our answer!) ;O))
Like you I always enjoy a meal out with family and being waited on for a change.......you've got some good memories Brenda,well worth your effort

Taff I think that is a good idea to have our ashes in an egg timer lol.
Brian you never stop looking after your children,and running after them....and you still get sibling jealousies,daughter has just been saying that her brother from Oz didn't get to spend as much time with her as she would like,but she doesn't realise that after 6 years away he has a lot of friends as well to catch up with.
Mau I do like all the running around,and I think us older ones have a lot more stamina than our offspring,or maybe we have had a more less materialistic world.
