Pink, I had to name him - 51 years of a lonely life in there on his own and no-one noticed or cared - poor abused thing!!!
Before I kmew it was only him, when I had a pain in my kidney area, I would hold the side where he is and say 'That kidney's playing up - but the other one's okay' - and all the time it was poor Kevin struggling on his own!!

I had a heammoroid (sp) once - called it Hector!! LOL

As for coke - only when I'm desperate with a hangover!!

Well good luck on getting Kevin (I love it that your kidney is named) working properly

I think sipping is different from drinking as smaller amounts and it doesn't reach kevin quickly!! :o)

Flat full fat coke is good for your sugar intake too if you could stomach that!!

xx

Thanks for your tips!!
My toast yesterday was peanut butter laden with extra salt - it was almost an instinct - don't usually take salt because of high BP - but Kevin comes first at the moment!!

Pink - seems logical, but doc said not to drink too much water - washes out minerals & salts. I don't like water anyway.

Mildred, doc didn't recommend it - also said not to take Imodium. Don't like fizzy drinks - though was drinking flat lemonade when I was being sick.

I have milk in my tea Daf, and have had some today - I love milk, but memories of literally regurgitating it when a child (sorry - too much info!!LOL) means I never drink it when I think I may be sick .

Will have a nice 'home made' supermarket vegetable soup for lunch - liquid and probably laden with salt LOL

Nice weather to have off work though :o))

Oh dear Maggie... hope you are feeling better soon!

Another thing that can help is milk, if you can stomach it...... Your Kevin will treat it as a food, not a liquid, for some reason.... so Kevin won't flush it through your system as quickly.... so the liquid gets to refresh the bits of you that water on it's own doesn't get to!

Love

can you take rehydration salts ?

if so try them

If not by some Lucozade sport. it has a lot of rehydrations stuff in the eg; sugar & salt for athletes or those dehydrating because of sport.

A few bags of crisps will help put back the salt too...again if you can with "kevin".

Dehydration is serious babe and poor Kevin needs all the help he can get!!

Start sipping water or barley water as they told me Kevin's like it!

;O)

Went to the doctor yesterday evening, as somehow I thought 'self prescription' was only for 4 days (it's 7) - had the most awful stomach bug Thursday, obviously didn't go to work Friday, really bad Saturday & Sunday and though Monday would count as the 4th day!!
Being befuddled/confused is a sign of dehydration.
Doc confirmed I was probably dehydrated
I really wanted to sleep yesterday afternoon, but forced myself not to. Got back from the docs at 6:30 and promptly fell asleep - another sign. Woke up at 5am - I'm ready for a nap now!!
I have been chain drinking - mostly tea (with sugar) - water apparently washes out sugars & minerals - since Sunday but still very dizzy and unable to concentrate. Just weighed myself - I've lost over 4lbs.
Poor old Kevin (my one kidney) is giving me gyp as well - I can feel him pumping away, and I've got a 'heavy' feeling there.
Doc just told me to carry on drinking and to try to eat (had all of 2 pieces of toast yesterday - but managed bacon & egg this morning)

Apart from that - I feel fine!! LOL Slightly guilty at having time off work as I'm probably not infectious any more - but I can't chain drink tea there!!!
