Member Since: January 2008 Posts: 5 Send Message	Please Help.....I'm running out of idea's I have my great grand father x 4, first marriage certificate....he married twice and I have the second one, but i cannot find the first..can anyone help point me in the right direction....I've been searching for several months now and keep drawing blanks...It doesn't help that he was a Blacksmith so moved around alot....anyone's help would be fab. cheers lea

Married a Sarah Ann James b 1823 Chepstow Newport Wales. they had a son Joseph Henry Ward born 1859 Bridgewater Somerset.. She died in 1867 and he re-married a Emma Dunk. 1868 Newport Wales. His Henry's father was called Joseph and he's on the second marriage certificate as being a Gardener. thanks lea

	Lea. I have had the same trouble with my gt gt grandfather's first marriage.I read somewhere that if my gt gt grandfather was the forgetful type, he just may not have gotten round to registering the marriage. When my gt gt grandmother died, she was referred to as having been married to her husband. And likewise with the second marriage, he was referred to as a widower. It did not help that the given date of the marriage was different on each of the children's birth certificates. This was Scotland c 1860/1870. Good luck with your search. Gail

	Are you sure about James being the surname when she married Henry? Joseph Henry Ward's Birth Certificate say Sarah Ann Ward Formerly James.... I've got a funny feeling she could have been married before as she was a bit older than him... I'll check out the one in Abergavenny and 'm going to try the Sarah Hitching's one too....My cousin is also looking and we haven't had much success so thanks for your help? got a few avenues to try out now... lea
