The predicted storm seems to be on it's way, so I'd better leave.

If we have a powercut I'd be stuck up here in the loft in the dark with only seagulls outside for company until it's light enough to negotiate the loft ladder.
.... It happened once, ..and that was enough.

Hi Gwyn
Hope you keep the storm to your part of the world! :-)
I live in the north east and its raining here and quite hot as if we are going to have one here. Hope not, as I don't like thunder storms!

Hi Gwyn, that sounds a bit scary lol!
Maybe you should buy some of those things advertised on tv, lightbulbs in a holder with batteries so you can switch one of those on if the power goes, they would be easy to fix to a beam or somewhere so you could find your way to the loft ladder and get down. Or you could keep a torch handy up there where you could find it easily when the lights went out.
Take care

I usually shut down my computer when there is thunder about, just to be safe. I do have a surge guard board, but still shut down. Anybody else do that?

Hello All
.... Nothing happened !

After a couple of rolls of thunder, it went quiet , .It didn't even rain.

Jan
I hope the storm rolled away from your area.

Liz
You are right. I did have a torch up here but as often happens in this house, it's 'walked'.
Technically we are supposed to also have a survival kit up here, ....ie. radio, Wellies, rubber gloves, food water etc. incase of flood as we are near sea level and therefore in an official environmentally declared flood-risk area. We are alert to weather conditions but this area has never flooded....Quite the opposite at the moment. The garden has huge cracks in the grass through lack of rain.

That seems a wise precaution. I usually leave it to OH to do the necessary. A neighbour had a lightening hit to her TV once and the charge blew out an electric socket.
