General Chat

I am often confused with the duplications of posts on both boards, but can see why it happens as some folks dont post on Chat and some folks dont post on General.

I'm too old to care which one I add to, so I apologise if I've added to both in the past without really realising it ))))

Think you are right Liz. here is a copy of part of the guide for message board use.

Don’t post anything that infringes, or might be considered to infringe, anyone’s copyright, trade mark or other intellectual property rights – it’s easy to take material that belongs to others, but that doesn’t make it right.

Don’t communicate material that deviates from the topic of the message board or chat room – start a new topic if you’d like to.

Don’t submit the same – or similar – material more than once.

Don’t use multiple log-ins.

Don’t advertise.

Actually.... with regards being illegal, I think the t&c say that a post should only appear once...they used to any way.

No Sally, I realised what you had done.

Carrie, I think most people who go on Gen board also look in at Chat even if they don't post, not sure if that is true of all who go on chat. Most of us don't want to miss anything so dodge around the boards which is why it is confusing if the same thread appears on more than one board. The same applies to asking for help on tips, then also on Chat and/or Gen boards.

It is not 'illegal', but just confusing to people like me (and probably Sally!! Lol!)

Ann......you know what I did during the week......you put up a thread on General......I posted on it and must have then gone onto Chat......answered a thread on there.......and then looked for yours......and couldn't find it......I thought that maybe I had said the wrong thing and you had pulled the thread because of it.......so I looked for something where you had posted and sent you a PM apologising......then realised that the thread was where it was.....all along......on General.......you must have thought I was a complete twonk.....

But, does anyone else get confused when the same threads are posted on both chat and Gen boards?

It is probably me having a senior moment but I go back to check replies after I have added, then can't find my post, It takes a while (put it down to age) Lol1!! to realise that I had actually added to the same post on a different board!!
