The soles on shoes can be dangerous. I had some resoled recently and they slipped off the pedal when they were wet.
And some service garages seem to polish the pedals when I get the car serviced as I seem to have the same trouble (feet slipping off the pedals) when I am driving afterwards. And dont walk on concrete where petrol or diesel has been spilled as that makes the shoes slippery.

I can't drive in flip flops or high heels or bare foot. I have to drive in shoes which cover and stay on the the feet.

In the winter my usual walking shoes are fine for driving but in the summer I normally wear slip on sandals and so I keep a pair of flat comfortable shoes in the car just for driving.

I have stupidly small feet and have to wear heels to drive if i wear flats it makes my ankles hurt cos my heel doesnt touch the floor. Im the only woman I know that has to wears heels to drive & changes into flats when I get anywhere.

Oooh, driving barefoot, painful. I drive in heels and flats, but if I have the option to change to flats to drive after a night out, i take it (quite often throw a pair in teh back of teh car). It's more comfortable and I feel I react better in flats, plus - it doesn't ruin the back of your best shoes!
As for bare foot or flip flops, I have a pal whose hubby is a policeman and he says that you can be done for driving with undue care if you're in an accident and are bare foot or wearing flip flops - something to do with the footwear being unsuitable for having total control of the car.

In summer I only ever wear flip flops of various stages of smart to beachy type ones, and am ok driving in them, but have driven barefoot years ok, only odd times tho. I cannot drive in thick soled or stiff soled shoes tho as the flexibility isn't there and I feel it is dangerous. If I am going on a long journey I will usually wear flat full shoes, but for around and about I have my flip flops or boots depending on season. Have driven in high heels but it doesn't do them any good, imagine if you snapped your heel so you had to hop along when you got out the car, one low one heeled shoe lol

Liz, you would have to walk on the edge of the pavement with one foot in the gutter.
As the drunk says, 'one longs legger than the other'.

I presume your flipflops are our jandals, otherwise known as thongs. I used to wear them a lot in summer years ago, and would slip them under the seat to drive barefoot. One day when I got to town I reached under the seat and put my jandals on. A few minutes down the road I glanced down and saw one was blue and the other green. I had 2 pairs under the seat. Murphys law, that I managed to get one left and one right. Otherwise I would have noticed sooner.

Huia, would be back to my childhood, hopping along one foot in the gutter lol

Yes, thongs or toepegs, I knew them as - I have dozens of pairs, first bought some in Malta, liked them so much I bought a pair in each colour, they were so comfy, wedges not flat ones in those days.

Very colourful with the blue and green jandals lol
