Have a lovely time Lorraine, don't forget your camera, you may need it for other things apart from taking pics of David to remind you how happy he is and for you not to worry, he will become settled and happy, and make new mates. I have a friend here near me who has a daughter the same as David, she ( the daughter) lives in a hostel type place with 24 hr care, the girl is really happy, she attends college daily and is pretty good now in getting around, she is confident enough to come home by bus and to travel to college, she is also getting the help she needed in learning to cope as a single person, in general daily life including shopping and banking, so she is able to work her funds out and to budget, also to learn about how to keep healthy with diet and to stay safe and not be led into anything that will get her into trouble, she is now 23 and still lives at the home with other people, she gets on so well and has improved immensely.
I hope your David will be as happy and that you can see a great improvement and a steady continuation of his behavior,. I'm sure he will be very happy and proud of himself and to make you proud of him.
