I see you can import your family into Facebook now.
I would appreciate your opinion on this.

That sounds like a very bad idea.

We get enough complaints on here about contacts stealing trees and copying private information.

I've not spent much time on Facebook but I've heard it is easy for information to spread.

Yes Sue I agree with you.

I´m just concerned as my kids are all on facebook and they want to put the family tree on it. I´m on it too (so I can see photos of my grandchildren) but I don´t have the desire or the time to be involved in so many peoples lives. (except my children of course).

Everyone is supposed to be a friend and connected up but I have received requests from people I have never known, friends of my children and I find it strange why they would want "to be my friend". May be they are just "collectors" of friends like the "tree collectors"
.

I've had "friendship" requests from total strangers via Facebook too. I get those occasionally even on Yahoo instant messenger despite opting to be invisible to everyone unless I choose to contact them first. I have stopped bothering with Skype because I was being contacted by people I don't know.

My kids are grown up but I know Facebook is popular with youngsters. I'd be very concerned if my children were younger about who they are "meeting" online.
