Thanks for all your replies. Malc does seem them and take them out as well. His son has just rung and asked Malc to lend him £20 so he can go out!! It is his birthday next week and he is expecting at least £50.00 if not more. It just seems never ending and as we are on a low income, we are struggling to make ends meet without extra demands. |

I agree with all of you. I stopped getting pocket money as soon as I got a job at 17, it was only a YTS at first but my Mam still took board off me as she said she wouldn't be doing me any favours and we all need to learn that life isn't free. I'm so glad she did now. although at the time I could have done with the money. |

i think if they are earning the pocket money stops, my daughter gets 40 a month and out of that she has to buy clothes and top her phone up, she gets about the same off her dad, actually that is not bad going for a 14 year old 80 pound a month. she thinks i am mean and her dad should give her more. |

My pocket money stopped as soon as I had a job, and then I had to pay a percent to mum, each week. Cant remember how much - it was quite a few years ago, now. |

I know I'll sound like scrouge here, but as a single parent my kids got paper rounds at 13years old, and the pocket money stopped then! |

I have a heap of errands and jobs the kids can do whilst i am working they get paid. I have told them when you get out of school no one will give you money you have to earn it, I reckon pocket money is okay any age as long as they have earnt it. |

Malc and Jackie - now you know what others feel - they are Malc's kids and dads are usually a soft touch. I do not know how you manage all of these treats - sounds as if you are doing without yourself. Get the feeling Malc is afraid to stop giving them goodies as if he does he will lose them. Malc you cannot buy love and if you do it is not worth having. Your son is an adult yet appears to have no pride - looking for handouts, By all means give him £20 to go out but tell him it will be his birthday present early. Tuf love Malc - then maybe they will give you some respect not easy I know. Do they buy presents at XChristmas and birthday for Malc? |
