The annoying thing is, if you put recyclables in your wheelie bin normally and they found out - they'd be down on you like a ton of bricks!!

Also, if you are filling your wheelie up with recyclables - what are you meant to do with your rubbish when it's full!!!!

I have just had a reply from the Leader of the Council to say that their policy is only to take the official box.

No comment on the advice to put everything in the wheelie bin!

I accept that recycling isn't easy for everyone, but it's easy for no-one when your local authority brings in the policy and then doesn't support it!

Oh dear, how did that happen? I'm ranting again.

Like many other people in our City my household rubbish and recycling were not collected on July 16th because of industrial action. The result of this is that both my recycling boxes are completely full and I now have another box of glass, plastic and paper which needs to be recycled.

Because of issues in the past ( they won’t collect paper if in glass/plastic box or glass/plastic if in paper box), I telephoned the council today to enquire whether they would accept recycling items in my own plastic boxes as well as theirs next time they collect, seeing as it will be four weeks and the problem has been caused by their employees coming out on strike.

I was advised that they could order additional boxes for me, which has
been done, but there is no indication of when they will arrive and in the meantime the official advice from the Council employee I spoke to is to put my recycling in my wheelie bin!

I have recycled everything I can for more years than I can remember. I am fully committed to recycling and will make my own arrangements for recycling until collections resume on a regular schedule.

However, I am really not sure about the commitment of my local authority.

Save the planet anyone?

Rant over
