just a pity that the plane hadn't been at a height that would not have endangered other passengers and they could have "got off" so to speak

Eldrick,

I did post a thread about the two 'lovely' ladies who were trying to open the aircraft door.

The bar still has a responsibility, I agree the idiot drinkers bear responsibility themselves.

Don't start on me this morning cos I can't cope..lol

I know, it was foolish of me.

I did so laugh when I read about the two women on a flight from Greece the other day, who were totally out of it, having drank all their duty free in one go, then created merry hell on the plane and not ONE single passenger went to help the crew....lol

Thye are getting a £16,000 bill from the airline for diverting the aircraft to Frankfurt and any passenger who missed a connection, had to get a taxi, whatever, is being supplied with their details in order that they can take action against them.....

I like it :-) but i cant understand able bodied men standing by to let 2 drunken women try to open a cabin door at cruise.....that has me puzzled

It was a gimmick to draw punters in and stop them buying crates of cheap beer from supermarkets and drinking at home! Apparently this is what is killing off the pub trade and why so many pubs are going under, closing down daily, as people can smoke at home with their booze and have a double go at killing themselves or ruining their livers for the future. Can you imagine the state of the country in a few years' time when all these binge drinkers are not able to work, and spending all their time on benefits and in and out of hospital?!

Oh come on Ian!
Surely you are not advocating that people
should accept responsibilty for their own actions !?

They only had a few of them, it wasnt a promotion and they went to regulars only at one bottle a person.

More creative journalism designed to brew up (!) self righteous indignation. Why let facts get in the way of good reporting!

Indeed - why do people blame suppliers for the misbehaviour of the users? Why not blame the pig ignorant selfish idiotic half wits who think its good to get out of their faces and try to open aircraft doors at cruising altitude to get some fresh air....

lol

I just love the comment that it's peoples' choice if they are drinking too much errrr. the licensed premises have a duty to ensure that their patrons don't over imbibe! But never mind as long as their tills are ringing bu@@er the consequences.

Rant over!

A trendy bar in one of Britain's "party capitals" has been condemned for selling strong beer at 10p a bottle.
The Spy Bar in Newcastle upon Tyne was selling 500ml bottles of 4.7% Mexican Potro beer at the knock-down price.
The bar, which is on Osborne Road in Jesmond - a popular nightspot for students and revellers - has been condemned by police, medics and licensing chiefs.
Councillor Anita Lower, executive member for community safety and regulation on Newcastle City Council, said: "This promotion is totally irresponsible.
"We will be inviting the bar's management to meet the council's licensing committee to discuss how this promotion fits into the council's licensing policy and alcohol strategy."
Top liver specialist Dr Christopher Record, who works at Newcastle's Freeman and Royal Victoria Infirmary hospitals, said the offer was "completely irresponsible".
"I think it is absolutely monstrous," he told The Journal.
"It is completely irresponsible, one bottle of that beer contains 2.8 units of alcohol. They are charging the equivalent of 4p per unit.
"It appears that they are not concerned about the health consequences from what they are doing."
The Spy Bar was unavailable for comment but a spokesman told the newspaper: "I don't think we have been irresponsible at all. We were given two crates of the beer by the brewery and we just wanted to get rid of it. If people are drinking too much alcohol it is their choice, it is not up to us."
