Crumble 3oz white bread into 1/4 pint milk. Let stand for 30 mins
Fry 2 chopped onions in butter/marg for 5 mins and then add 1lb minced lamb. Cook for further 5 mins stirring to blend with onions.
Add 1 tsp of curry powder, 1 tbls brown malt vinegar and soaked bread with any remaining milk.
Season and add 1tsp brown sugar.
Put mixture in a casserole dish (2.5 pint).
Beat 2 eggs and 1/4 pint milk and pour over meat mixture.
Top with chopped almonds and 2 bay leaves.

I think there a loads of variations- some have apricots and raisins. Some use lemon rind but I prefer it without the sweeter taste.

You can create your own curry powder aswell but I prefer shop bought cos I can never get the combinations right

My OH doesnt like it but he is a meat & 2 veg kind a guy.

Kids liked it when they were growing up but dont ask anymore.

I got the recipe years ago from and old Margarite Patton book- in my experimental phase, when I'd try anything, especially if it saved a couple of pounds. Usually one pot meals that fed a lot of hungry mouths. I dont cook as much as i used to!!
