Good morning Wafflers,

Welcome to Marie . . I wont hold it against you that you come from Rocky . . teehee . .
TLR is a Rocky lad (TLR being OH, The Lovely Ray) . . I admire the fact that you got out of there. teehee
TLR took me back to live there in 77, I lasted 5 years - and they were looong ones . . teehee

We had a lovely time out at Mudgee, lots of chatting, good food, excellent wines . . but best of all the company - thanks to mine hosts Printheth Lew and Tez. TLR managed to unwind, he even left the blueberry in the car (shock! shock! horror! horror! teeheee) He has gone off to the salt mines this morning much more relaxed.

See you in December then lovley Lara . . we should try and get our little families together for a meal at the Bellvedere or something . . be nice for them to all meet - seeing as how Cassie and Paul have run, swam and cycled around one another for a few years already.

Glad you managed to have a lovely week away Vonny, recharge is good!

The family are all starting to get a tad concerned about us going back to Jakarta on Thursday, but we isny worried. We never spend any time in the districts where westerners go . . and we are well cared for by friends who wouldn't let us go anywhere where we might be at risk. They will probably advise me not to go to a couple of market places I usually visit - but thats alright . . plenty more.

Have a wonderful trip Annabel, it will be hard for you going back alone, but Doug will be well remembered and it will be lovely for you to spend time with others who loved him also. Just remember to enjoy every minute of the trip . . and have a lovely Christmas . . see you next year.

Mary, how wonderful for you to have an old friend come to visit . . I imagine the chins are wagging and wont stop till she leaves . . good on you girl . . .poor John . . Ahhh well just give him the remote and a feed bag and leave him to it . . teeheee
(I see you have a fellow Swans supporter in Marie . . pmsl)

Wouldn't mind haveing a hidden recorder in the pub when Sir Tones and his ol'mateyJohn finally get to meet up . . bet a few tales surface that day . . . embellished by time no doubt . . teehee

There is a big WRANS reunion in SA next Anzac day . . would love to go for the memories . . but think we are going to be O/S again then . . good grief it is 40 years this year since I joined up . . someone must have been playing with time . . it canny be that long . teehee I is too young !!!!!

Well whopping machine is telling me it has finished its load . . time to hang it out and shove another in . .

Have a wonderful Monday . . and keep the grin gear working

luv Laurie xo

Arvo....:>))

Bewdiful sunny day in Melbum.

Vonny. Yes mate....the Wattlelotto ticket got us another 5th Divy, so cash it in, but dont leave the country........not that you'd get very far on it....;>)))

Barb and i have finished painting the lounge room, and of course, once you finish one room, its odds on you want to paint the inside of the whole house.
So next room coming up is the family room.

Eldest daughter ( Teena ) rang me last night, to say that 8 year old grandaughter has put her order in for christmas.
She wrote a letter to Santa, saying she has been good, and needs a new doll, as the arms on her last one had fallen off....lol She also wants a a new scooter, and clothes, and a tele for her bedroom, but must have thought she was being greedy. So went to her mother and asked if she should scrub the tele from her list, and was she being greedy.....hee hee
Poppy Santa might just have a small tele in his shed me thinks, so i said to daughter, if she is allowed to have one, Grandma and Pop will give it a polish and wrap it up.
Havent heard from other daughters yet, so just hope grandsons dont want a tele too......lol

Picked my first lot of spring oinions from the Vegie patch.........so will make meself up a cuppla spring oinion sanga's with a sprinkle of salt.

Marie. I worked for the P.M.G in Box Hill in the late 60s for about 12 months....We used their bicycles ( Red from memory )and it was our responsibility to make sure they were in tip top condition.
pmsl..... means "Peeing my self laughing" or " Pissing my self laughing" pending what country you were born in......:>)))

Better go knock the mrs up a Ham sanga, because she is not into spring oinion sanga's.....then hit the road again cos those blahdy P.M.G blokes keep shoving Bill's in me letter box.

Av a good un

Morning All,i thought it was about time to add a few words seing as i have been very remiss as of late.
Those sangas sound good Tony,i love a salad one,spring onion,lettuce,tomato,,with a little sliced hard boiled egg ,topped with a little mayo,a meal fit for a king.
Won't be having that again for a while because all but the lettuce is finished for the year,and i won't buy shop sring onion ,they don't taste right to an old gardener.
Hey ,our Mary ,BINGO,i have at last found the proper connection to the baird clan and oz ,so i am as happy as a pig in among the acorns lol.
Seems my gt grandad [David]Baird many times removed was born in Wemyss,Fife in 1816,
and i now have the names and dates of birth for his parents and siblings .
One of his brothers was also a sailor,and whereas David moved to County Durham in the early 1840's ,his other brother left England on the Ship Nantulus 1840 /41 and emigrated to N S W.
Now i have to start again to find out what happened to him,and where he went to.
I have got the beef started too,so we will eat in style this Christmas,what with the corned beef,my usual turkey ,and some home cooked gammon.
Hope you are all enjoying your spring [you lucky people] lol,catch you later ,Fred.

Hello everyone,

Nice day today in Melbourne. Spent the w/end down at Venus Bay but Sat it rained a lot. Still we went and saw one of our daughters and our 2 grandchildren living near there. Tony I see u r also from Melb. Dry isn't it? We lost a big tree this time so husb has been busy trying to get the stump out. I've given up on the treeferns, they are all dead or half dead.

Fred. I also love my spring onion sanga's ( home grown only ) with Letuce, Toms,and sliced boiled egg too.I like mine with a dab Coleslaw dressing, and black pepper.
If you ever need something checked BDM in Aussie please dont hestitate to ask. I carry all BDM cd. Index's ( 1788 up to 1985 deaths for Victoria, and whatever else for all the other States, that are allowable to the general public, but you may prefer the thrill of the chase yourself. Anyway....the offer is there if you need it, or get stuck.

Hi. Starlight7. Yes...i'm a born and bred Melbournian.
We used to take our kids across to Venus Bay ( during School holidays ), as we had a Van and Annex down at Inverloch in the 80s for about 8 years..... Also, i spent some time on a farm myself at Wonthaggi as a young 12 year old, and hence my love for the Gippsland area of Vic. Only wish i had bought land down that way in the 80s, as i think you need a 1st place Lotto win to purchase land and house at Inverloch now days....lol

Marie from OZ
Good evening to all we had a beautiful day here in Bathurst.... I was allowed to leave the house today and go to town for a brouse around the shops.I had my daughter with me and she kept telling me to slow down as i am only allowed to stroll (I had a large no. of tests while in Hospital last week) tomorrow I am having a Halter monitor for 24hrs. They will then decide what needs to be done.Then the guard dogs(my daughters and Son-in-law) will hope fully take themselves off duty.
I really do love them dearly.
Our gardening weather is always behind here,our tomatoes are on the go but need to be well covered at night. I will be removing the silverbeet ( Spinach) as it is starting to seed, the pumpkins are up, I hope to get them thinned out and planted into their mounds, if my guards will let me.
I do hope you get some rain down in
Melbourne and also in Castlemaine were
my eldest son his wife and children live.
It is time to lay this ageing body down but not before I take my pills. God bless you all its nice to have met you and i love reading the postings. Marie.

Hi Marie,

Welcome to the Wattlers. I live in Canberra along with Vonny and JA (not sure if JA has popped in recently).

We had a lovely day here too although it was quite warm out in the sun. Guess that's what happens when summer is almost here.

I might have to plant some more vegie seeds as the last lot haven't done anything. Only planted a few as last year I was over-run with tomatoes and OH is the only one in this house who eats them - lol. Of course have to remember to water them. Vonny's salad leaves sprung up so I have 3 plants on the go.

Have fun with the halter monitor. I needed to have one last year - didn't find it too inconvenient. Anyway hope you get good results and the family can relax their guard.

Lara - hope you've had a lovely time with Cassie and been able to recharge the batteries. Say hi to Mike and Josh. Hope things are going great with Mike's knee. Won't be long and you'll be heading back to Qld.

Merle - hope there's been lots of improvement for you with the knee. Glad Noeline is spoiling you and you make sure you enjoy it - lol

~~~~~~~~ to all the other Wattlers. Hope everyone is keeping well.
Catch up ron
Thought it was time I poked my head back in.
Have been busy taking pics of cemetery, got an idea going about with another person on taking pics of all the headstones and putting on DVD and maybe sell one or 2 to recoup our money lol.
I dont want summer to come :-((( it was 30 degrees here in the north of the state yesterday and its not even summer yet :-( Garden is coming along nicely and the raspberry canes have survived my attempt to grow them, so must be doing something right, you would never know my Grands were ag labs hee hee.
~~~ to Starlight, I think Ive seen you on here, or the old thread at least before.

Hello Marie, mmmm another Swan supporter, tell me what do you think of Barry Hall ???? Just curious cause someone else always tries to palm him of to other clubs mine included. Im a bit of a footy fanatic too, but dont listen to the others when they say Im obsessed with my team lol.
Just a bit about me, yes I have an EX too, 3 kids 20,17 and 14 y/o's have a bit of a heart prob and Im always being told to be careful or should I be doing that??? Especially form my parents. The man in the white coat is called often..but I will say a nicer lot would be hard to find and any help you need on your tree you just have to holla as a few of us have Ancestry and some have heaps of discs and are only to happy to see what they can find for you..Most of us have met in person and a great time is had by all when we get together..We usually end up with a sore jaw from laughing so much..

Fred Send Tony the details of your Charles Baird, as I have had a look but he is not there,,and Tone is much better at it than me when it comes to OZ..and he might be on one of his discs..Also could the name of the ship be NAUTULUS AND NOT NANTULUS..????just wandering..

Well its time to think about dinner,so see ya later..

Good morning from Jakarta . .
It's only 5.30am . . and the human chainsaw is working well - not that it woke me . . I just had enough sleep and couldn't just lay there anymore.
We dined here in the hotel last night so it was an early night after a big day tramping thru the shops.
Another Sydney sider wife is here so we went to Sarinah for some Christmas shopping yesterday - a complex with several floors of traditional arts and crafty stuff . . found a couple of things I hadn't seen before . . liked them so much I have asked TLR to take me back teeeheeee
We just touched down on Thursday evening and were advised we had an hour and half to get ourselves to the hotel and ready to go to dinner at our fav Japanese where the food was as good as ever . . . so this is the first few mins I have had to even get the puter out of the bag.

Marg and her hubby had to make a quick dash to Oz yesterday so haven't caught up with her, her OH's sister is not well in Brissie . . but we will go visit the children this afternoon . . Rubes is apparently telling everyone Aunty Lollie is coming . . looking forward to the snuggles.

Where is yah Merle ?? getting a tad concerned as haven't seen you on for a while . . hope the leg is on the improve.

Well best get off here and go make a cuppa . . think TLR must be needing a cuppa . . his throat must be dry after cutting down all those trees . . teehee

luv to all Laurie xo

HI June Tony Laurie and Mary,
We had a great storm last night filled my tank to overflowing got 12 mm of rain didnt cool it down much as today was quite hot.
June welcome back to Oz and yes i have found everyone is very nice.

Mary How are you going to email me? Bathurst and Orange have the same Phone Book but you will have to know my Surname you are probably a lot better at this computer stuff than I am. Is there some way I can get my emaile address to you and still be safe.

Tony I loved Melbourne for their gardens also the climate is so good for Gardening, not like the cruel winters we have here.

Tassie Devil, actually I dont have a high regard for him at all.I think they should find a replacement and give him to some one else but I dont think any one would pick him up.
He needs to retire, he is past his use by date.

Its time I went to bed Night All
