What got me was - had they carried on the conversation in the same tone and volume of voice, I don't think I would have taken any notice. Les Dawsson always reminded me of them when he had his chats with his neighbour (forget their'names' the other guy was Landlord in Corrie for a time).

Anothing saying we had was

I was always told this as a child if I was asking questions about something the 'adults' were talking about.

Definatley followed a mudcart (in the Midlands anyway).

Also we said re the cat
