Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 19 Aug 2013 18:47

Noreen, a belated happy birthday to you, o.k wheres our piece of cake then, you could send it via the cyber hatch dontcha know. lol
Fortunately for us, seven of our grandchildren have passed the terrible teen years, but we do have five who are under thirteen year olds.
J.J is thirteen, and even though we love him to bits, he can be a real nightmare. Our son and his ex wife, share the care of him and his sister, and up till the time of their separation he was a good child, but now he is a little toerag.
I know he's at a rebellious age, and the divorce didn't help, but it is such a shame.
His attitude stinks, and the language at times can be awful, hence he has had his mouth washed out a few times. I know that when we were young we tested our parents patience to the limit, but I would not have dared to use bad language in front of my parents.
God willing he will go back to being the wonderful boy he used to be eventually.
We had a trip up to our local dump today, to get rid of the old crittle window from our shed. Good grief, that darned thing was so heavy, and to top it all, we were supposed to climb any amount of steps, up to the skip at the tip. Hah, no way, I said to Roly lets just leave it here at the bottom of the steps, rather than cripple ourselves. You have never seen anyone leave as qucikly as we did, in hopes that no one noticed us, and didn't catch our car number plate on camera.
If there is a knock on the door, or a letter saying we were fly tipping, I shall let im indoors face it. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I hope you have all had a good day. Take care one and all. Mo

I am still around Shelly, but never seem to be on at the same time as you.
I hope everyone is well, as it's been very quiet for a while now on here.

Yvonne, the Willow Walk is a nice place isn't it, and very very popular, with locals and visitors alike. It's a pity I missed this years meet, as I would have loved to have caught up with you. Did your OH like it there?

I will say bye for now, take care. Mo

Hello all

Noreen Sorry to hear about your brother, very sad. My thoughts to you and your family.

Jean hope you are ok after losing your horse, they are like our family aren't they. Had he been ill?
My girl is still happy to plod around the field, she is still lame but the 'bute' keeps her comfortable.

We had a day out in London on Tuesday, we had bought tickets for The Shard, a bit pricey but enjoyed the views, had our lunch at The Willow Walk in Victoria ( a favorite haunt of GR London meets) then had a wonder up to Trafalgar Square and saw the blue chicken!

Stay well and safe

Mo, when you posted I was in bed fast asleep (2 a.m.). I didn't wake up until almost 10 (11.00pm your time). Today I have to try to fill out a form to claim a rebate on my rates. The trouble is I don't know how much my superannuation is before tax. All I know is the amount that goes into my bank account each fortnight. I will have to phone somebody, or go to town and queue up to find out. I also have to decide how much to put on my insurance renewal for sum assured for house and contents. I don't have a clue. It is a new thing, since the Canterbury earthquakes, making us responsible for deciding the amount. I think we also have to include the amount it would cost if the house was a wreck to get it all cleared away and get building consents to rebuild, and also to include any retaining walls we have on the property (we have 2). I don't want to pay somebody to come and tell me how much. Such a headache :-|

Jeniwren Report 15 Aug 2013 20:47

Hello everyone, sorry I have been absent for so long, the days seem to pass so quickly, don't know where the time goes.
Hope you are all ok and well.
Have been reading through some of the threads on GR, there seems to be such a lot of ill feeling between some members, cannot understand why some people have to 'have a go' at others just because they don't agree with what they say.
Oh well, am just being old and crabby I suppose. I lost one of my beloved horses a couple of weeks ago and it has upset me so much. I know she was 'only a horse' as someone said yesterday, but she was my special horse. But, life has to go on.
Oh it's raining, save me watering the garden.
Off to have a nice hot bath then into bed, got an early start tomorrow.
Love to you all, take care and stay safe.
Jean xx :-) :-) :-)

What can I say Noreen, apart that I am so sorry to hear the sad news, and I send you all my very best wishes. Stay strong Noreen, and don't forget we are here should you need support, or just to scream and shout of the injustice of it all.
I do hope you enjoy the Humming bird cake, but just mind you don't choke on the feathers. You will have to let us know how it turns out.

Come on Shelly, get those brushes moving hun. A themed party like your daughter wants, sounds fantastic. Lets just hope the weather holds for it, or else the garlands you will be wearing round your necks, may get blown away by the wind and rain.
Oooh yes, and the hula skirts might get just a little damp. Now let me guess what colour skirt will you be wearing I wonder lol. Anything like the bridesmaid dresses from yonks ago, I can't remember what colours we decided to waer amongst the lot of us. Oh, those were the days.
Like you, I am wondering what has happened to Sue. Surely she must be moved in by now, and have internet connection sorted, it seems ages ago we heard from her friend.

I wonder whats happened to Marilyn and Linda and Jean. Yvonne we see occasionally, but the rest of the gang have deserted us. We don't hear from Lady at all either do we.

A quick hello to our Huia, coz I bet she is running around like a headless chicken today, bless her she works so hard, in the hospice shop, but then she gets great enjoyment out of it, plus some great bargains.

Bye for now girls, take care. Mo

Thanks Mo, everyone is so angry my poor sil didn't know anything about and came home the next day luckily a friend met her but she is devastated just wish we were able to go over but not really possible for us but feel sick that we know he lay there for 4 days ....awful. I suppose being the US the place where compensation claims started the office were scared in case someone opened door without permission and stole/broke something now I think they will have to be more worried .

Oh No Noreen, your brother will be in my prayers love. What an awful thing to have happened, made even more so because of his being alone, and and just lying there with no one to help him.
How dreadful that the caretakers wouldn't help the friends out, by not opening the flat up and checking that everything was alright. Talk about it not being company policy, what tommy rot, absolute rubbish, words fail me, I am completely gob smacked.
Your poor SIL must be feeling very bad about it as well.
Stay strong Noreen, and any time you want you scream and shout, we are here for you love.
Hugs for you. Mo

Oh Dear where's all me Friends gone to?
Not so warm now thank goodness still can sit out in the garden and the tomatoes are coming along actually got some red ones .... small but sweet and got chilli's too son went off with a whopper and loads of smaller ones too
However had some really sad news this week my brother and sil live in US sil was back home here for the funeral of her only brother 2 wks ago while she was here my bro fell in the house and cracked his skull damaged lungs/kidneys and lay on the floor for 4 days in a coma .Friends got worried and tried to get in touch now where he lives they have an office in the flats , not wardens just for flat problems etc, so they asked if someone could check and their answer was "No ...not company policy" so in the end they had to get police to break down door. He is now in hosp for the past few days under heavy sedation and will be for another 5 days till they can operate . Not sure of brain damage . Soo prayers / positive thoughts and the whole bang lot - anything to make him better please :-(
sorry don't mean to upset a lovely cheerful thread.
