Hello friends, thank you so much for all your birthday messages and your kind thoughts.
Am very happy to be home, but cannot fault the care I was given in hospital.
I do hope that Marilyn is starting to feel much better now, not a very good end to her holiday was it?
Have been trying to catch up with this thread but haven't read all the posts yet, hope everyone is ok and hasn't suffered too much because of the weather.
Lovely sunshine here today but very cold.

A Wee Chuckle for the day...........well worth reading.

A man walked out to the street and caught a taxi just going by. He
got into the taxi, and the cabbie said,...........

"Perfect timing. You're just like Brian"

Passenger: "Who?"

Cabbie: "Brian . He's a guy who did everything right all the time.
Like my coming along when you needed a cab, things happen like that to
Brian , every single time."

Passenger: "There are always a few clouds over everybody."

Cabbie: "Not Brian . He was a terrific athlete. He could have won the
Grand Slam at tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an
opera baritone and danced like a Broadway star and you should have
heard him play the piano. He was an amazing guy."

Passenger: "Sounds like he was something really special."

Cabbie: "There's more. He had a memory like a computer. He remembered
everybody's birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order and
which fork to eat them with. He could fix anything. Not like me. I
change a fuse, and the whole street blacks out. But Brian , he could do
everything right."

Passenger: "Wow. Some guy then."

Cabbie: "He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid
traffic jams. Not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them

But Brian, he never made a mistake, and he really knew how to treat a woman
and make her feel good.

He would never answer her back even if she was in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished too.

He was the perfect man!

He never made a mistake.

No one could ever measure up to Brian ..."


Passenger: "An amazing fellow. How did you meet him?"

Cabbie:..............

"Well, I never actually met Brian.

He died.

I'm married to his Widow."

Thank you Stephen, but although we have been married for 54 years we have been together for only the first 50 of those as OH went into care 5 months after our 50th anniversary, so I dont really feel as if the last few anniversaries 'count'. I will go to see him today, though, as I usually go on a Thursday, but he wont know what day it is. He rarely looks at me, or talks, and often keeps falling asleep. I dont even know if he knows who I am.

I woke up just after 4 a.m. and couldnt get back to sleep, hence I am here on my computer at 6 a.m. about to have breakfast. I will probably get another hour or 2 sleeping after that.

Pauline thanks for letting us know about Marilyn, I do hope she gets well soon.

I have had a message from Jeni ( Jean's) daughter Susan. Jeni had a heart attack, and has been in hospital.
Fortunately it was what Susan called a mild heart attack, and Jeni's son went to pick her up from hospital this afternoon.
Bless her, it's her birthday tomorrow so,

Hi all, haven't read any posts yet, just popped on to tell everyone that our Marilyn is in hospital.

I don't know the full story but she was taken into hospital last Wednesday and is being treated for pneumonia. I think she's hoping that she'll pick up after a few more days treatment. If I get any more news I'll let you all know.

Edit: I see things haven't improved any............ just got the ERROR message when I clicked on submit!! :-| :-| :-|

Linda, when my OH removed our old enamelled iron bath the dust from it got into the handbasin and left rusty stains that I cant clean off. There were also some wet flannels hanging up that became badly stained. I had to throw them out. OH had used a grinder to cut the end off the bath as it was a tight fit and removing the end made it easier to get out the door as well.

Hi I'm still around. Busy weekend stayed with hubby's brother after the concert and tried going for a walk. We'd have done better with webbed feet. But it was nice to have a break.
You can probably hear it across the air, but noisy here today as the bathroom is being ripped out !!! They are trying to break up a cast iron bathe right now. Then we will have a lovely shower room instead. Can't wait.

Dull and miserable again

Huia, it would be lovely to have you join us at the meets, if you couldn't hear us properly, we could do sign language for you,...well at least we would have a darn good try at it. I might end up with two black eyes, for sticking my fingers up in a gesture, that gets mistaken for something else, but we would get by love.

Stephen, I did wonder if Shelly had popped in last night, and left the lights on, but obviously not, as she hasn't shown her face for a couple of days now.
I am getting worried now, as there has been no sign of Marilyn. I don't remember her saying she was going away again, and with her having been so poorly,it's a worry.

I will pop back later, to see if anyone has heard from her. I will have to try and contact Jeni (Jean) to make sure she is o.k as well.
All our friends are vanishing into thin air, and I dont like it, it's scary not hearing from them.

Huia, That must be terrible. It's bad enough trying to hear in 'normal' situations but with a hub-dub going on in the background it's near enough impossible to distinguish words.

Mo.....I thought I had put the lights off.....must have had a Senior Moment. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Marilyn is still missing and Jean also. Hope they are both alright.

I would love to attend one of the meets, except that with my hearing problem I probably wouldnt enjoy it as much as I would like. The hearing aids are no use in a noisy place. :-|

Hi Yvonne, not long now till the meet, so i will see you there. It looks like there are going to be a lot more people coming this year, that will be great won't it, putting faces to names.
I wish that a few more of our friendlies would come, now that would make our day wouldn't it.

It's pouring down with rain here again. I have been on the look out for Noah and his Ark, as we may need it if this weather carries on the way it is.
But, if we do get a summer, there are bound to be water shortages again.
