*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 29 Jan 2012 22:44

All we seem to get are magpies and blackbirds, literally by the dozen, seagulls and robins this time of year...more species in the warmer months.

I thought it maybe cos my neighbours now have so many cats, and they are always trekking thro our garden to the woodland below, that was keeping the birds away. I think they have 6, lovely looking cats , I sho them away.
One of them had climbed a large tree at the bottom my garden, stalking 2 blackbirds, the birds held their ground and actually moved in on the cat and forced him down out of the tree..fascinating to watch.

Shaun, well now we know where all our birds are. I wonder if that is because your weather is so much colder than ours.

Well nothing exotic - no flamingo's or pelicans.

But I did have 13 sparrows, 4 greenfinches, 6 chaffinches, 2 collared doves, 1 robin, 2 bluetits, and 3 marauding jackdaws.

I thought the other day that it's many years since I saw a bullfinch - does anyone have them?
Maybe they don't frequent North Wales.

Tec.

All done and sent off.
Not many here either Ann. We saw redwing yesterday but not this morning. No chaffinches, starlings or the waxwing that we had in abundance last year.

Like you say think there is more natural food around at the moment.

Still definately like the feeding station, so that was a great gift.

Fewer than last year and not a single starling. A man from RSPB on the radio said there will be fewer birds in gardens this year as they are still out in the fields because of the milder weather.

Morning all:)

l hope to do the count tomorrow, Vic will be on a ramble. Madoc will hopefully be on our bed which means he won't be running to the door and frightening the birds away!!

Just been watching the parakeet, it was squawking from the top of a very big fir tree.

Island...sorry l still have two photo's to get onto my blog, the blog has a new set up, must go and have another try...oops!
