Found This thread on page 4 lol
Where are all you ladies lol - you cheer up these boards lol.
I often pop in to see what the latest is - puts me off reaching that magical age - but at least you can laugh about it lol
Shame Harpstrings and FamilySearcher left - they had some funny stories. Often wonder what happened to the guy with the hair transplant - he was a character wasn't he . Bet he's still single ha ha

Hi Patricia
yes putting on weight is another symptom of the change. I was always skinny before I started the change had a 32B chest and then went up to a 34D chest I know that doesn't sound much ,but for me it was a lot , I also went up a dress size from 10 to 12 , again not a lot but I am not even 5 foot and though I enjoyed having a bigger chest ,having a bigger stomach was no fun. it was very uncomfortable to bend over , got a lot of indigestion, and always felt bloated and frumpy kept having to buy new Jeans & trousers, Tops became too tight ,
So I decided to cut down on the carbs, and I now am back to a size 10 and my chest size is 34C , shame about the chest but glad that I can bend over.

Anyone had an ever expanding bustline? I've gone from a 36B to a DD in the past few months and it's costing me a fortune in Bras ,I was always happy to be a B cup and am not quite sure if these large protuberances are really "me" All my tops and dresses are suddenly cripplingly tight .Is this another symptom of "the change" ?

I don't think I have ever had to deal with the council other when I ring them to ask if a dead Badger or Fox could be picked up.We have had a few down our road and if they aren't removed they start to Whiff and it's not nice lol
They have come out each time, thank goodness.

Hi Everyone
Patricia our local council also provides a grass cutting service for the elderly or people in the community who can't manage heavy work, my dad gets his front lawn cut, the only problem we have with the service is that there is no telling when theywill come, so I cannot guarantee anyone will be there to open up the garage to let the young lads in to do the back lawn, so OH does all dad's gardening when he has the time.

Jane has the gas man been yet?
we have been in our house now for almost 20 years and still have the old boiler, it's still working but is very old fashioned , we will change it when we finely save some money up to get our kitchen redone, I bet if an engineer came to our house he would probably say that they couldn't get any parts for it now. OH won't change nothing it if it's still safe and working
thats including Me lol, I'm still safe but slow working these days.

Jane Report 5 Nov 2009 11:17

Morning Ladies,
Up early and all present and correct by 8 in case the gas engineer arrived.I am still waiting lol was told between 8 and 1 .I bet we are last. They must dread coming here when they see how many call outs we have had since the new boiler was fitted nearly 3 years ago!!!!

Hi A.B. sorry to harp on about help, our council offers gardening services to folks who have legitimate difficulties dealing with the heavier jobs and in some cases even grass cutting.Maybe worth your while giving them a call to see if it's available in your area.My M.I.L. 's church has a similar service ,usually fit, older men with time on their hands and as she knows they're from her church she feels quite relaxed about them being there.

My OH is 74, and gets so many requests to do work. He is a carpenter/joiner, turner and can restore wooden furniture. He has got to the stage where . I have to answer the phone and tell people that he is retired Usually get' its only a small job' But i have to be firm because he would be run off his feet and he is not as healthy as he used to be.
Pam, dont go!

Patricia

Patricia Report 4 Nov 2009 18:05

A.B. it seems tradesmen are run off their feet as all the folk who can't sell their houses are extending and refurbishing instead, the man who usually does our decorating says he won't be able too fit us in 'til January at the earliest ! Recession..........what recession?

Jane

Jane Report 4 Nov 2009 17:44

I think we all need to put pressure on our Pam to stay. She did say probably leave and not definitely !!!!
Christine I didn't realise you were waiting for an Op.Obviously in that department.I hope it will be soon.
I have had the same problem with people saying they will turn up or ring and they dont. How rude is that .It just takes a minute to call.A lot of workmen don't seem to want to just take on small jobs for some reason.

Hi Fiona, make sure to check your Dad's getting all the home care he's due.My mum was in sheltered housing and no-one bothered to let us know about the help available .In the months before she died we discovered she could have a home help every day ,someone to help her to bathe ,a nurse in the evening to put in her eye drops and someone to get her ready for bed.Up until then I'd been doing all these things myself and it was starting to tell on my health ,I was pretty well exhausted from all the to-ing and fro-ing.If you don't ask you wont get .Best of luck for the meeting.

Fiona, glad to hear you make a list of questions. Dont forget to take it with you! I,ve done that! They might dread seeing a list come out, but you will get the information you want, not what they want to tell you.

Morning all
I agree AB you could write a good guide book for people visiting on holiday.
A bright morning with the occasional shower but a lot of wind woke up 2or 3 times in the middle of the night for my visits to the loo and I could hear the wind howling.
OH left in a taxi this morning at 5-45 for his train to Manchester , will be away most of the week back Thursday night.
This week was going to be a busy one, but I have already had a phone call about tomorrows review meeting about dad to say it has been cancelled due to dad's social worker taking ill , never mind it will give me a longer time to think and write a few more questions down.

Jane Report 2 Nov 2009 10:13

I really enjoyed really that Christine.Thanks.It is nice to hear others tales of their hols.I visited Dorset in September and thought it was beautiful.
I did have a chuckle at the vision of you concentrating on your Pelvic Floor Excercises and your walking stick in the loo.You might have poked someones eye out with that lol
It is a beautiful morning here, super duper day.

AB, I enjoyed your account. I would like to do that kind of thing, with only one night away, but OH is a non-traveller! and I cant drive.
