Gsh down on page 4 that would never have happened in the past. Hope you are enjoying the meals that D cooked for you Jean. shame your walk was rained off.

Today, We were supposed to be going to visit Kifsgate garden Chipping Camden but the U3A group leader cancelled it because rain was forecast. We, instead drove to Evesham Country park and garden centre and shops. We had a short walk round the country park up to where the picnic area and children’s play area is. Took a few photos, mostly of the wild flowers growing in the park which were very pretty. There were lots of plums on the trees but unfortunately they were not ripe yet. We had lunch in the garden centre, Senior citizens special, chicken, tomato and basil with rice and vegetables, then I had sticky toffee pudding and Tony had apple crumble. We then looked round the garden centre and I bought a half price coat, lightweight and shower proof in navy blue. Bought a few other bits in the garden centre and The Works. Got home at 2.15pm, a pleasant day out. Oh and there were only a few spots of rain. so we could have gone to the garden.

:-D :-D

I asked why it couldnt be turned off the answer was most of the oldies said its cold, needless to say it wasnt me :-S :-S :-S so good job we have a fan although it doesnt make a huge difference, my way of dealing with it is to have a lie down each afternoon,
I recall when we went to Spain it was a good way of dealing with the heat, everything stopped in the afternoon shops shut , it seemed a sensible idea but they traded most of the evening when it was cooler......

Mo in Kent Report 20 Jul 2016 21:37

Oh bless you Jean, why on earth have they still got the heating on, yes I know that the powers that be worry that people of certain ages do feel the cold, but, how it is at the moment it's ridiculous.
I am sat here with the fan blowing on me, and I am still hot.
Last night, probably like most of us, I think I saw every hour of the night, good grief it was soooo hot in the bedroom, I was sorely tempted to get up and go and sleep in the garden, if it wasn't for the midges and flying insects, I would have done.

Stay cool and safe girls, love and hugs, Mo xxx

AnninGlos Report 20 Jul 2016 20:48

Jean why is the heating on in the corridors this hot weather. So wasteful and just as dangerous to get overheated as to get too cold.

JustJean

JustJean Report 20 Jul 2016 16:53

This heat is killing me, the place we live in is boiling with all the heating on in the corridors there is little air even if we go outside, Mo I would love to dance again I used to love it, but cant put one foot in front of the other without falling over these days ;-) ;-) ;-)

even to hot to do some cards :-( :-( :-(

hope everyone is coping with the heatwave, take care ........

Hello girls, good to hear from you Jean and our lovely Sallie.

Sorry to hear your sad news Sallie, but thank the lord your cousin didn't suffer for to long. It's sad about your SIL's brother as well, the big C is a real bu**er, and it's about time they found a way of treating it and getting rid of it completely, to save so many suffering.
I can't tell you how pleasing it is, that Alun is progressing so well, and now that he is mobile again, you can get out and about without to many problems.
Take each day as it comes darling, it may seem that you take one step forwards and two back, but your concentration is getting better each day, and that's
very important.
Did Alun get the drive finished ?

Jean you are so right, it doesn't matter what age our children//grandchildren are, we still worry about them.
I told you that you and J should take up dancing in the park, round and round the bandstand, mind you you would need to walk there first lol

Well another sweltering day today girls. At 2.00 p.m I really thought we were going to get a nice drop of rain, there were black clouds in the sky, and we could smell rain, but it came to nothing.
It looks like this nice weather is here for most of the week, so perhaps our summer is here at last.
Bye for now my lovelies, take care, hugs from me to you, Mo xxx

Morning all, I went to the bladder clinic yesterday , I dont know why I was so edgy, coulnt sleep, however I saw a lovely lady almost as old as me ;-) ;-) she was brilliant, asked a lot of questions and gave me special exersises to do , she also explained how importment it is to drink lots of fluids , and get decaf coffee, also I need to do more walking , which for me is hard, but I will make the effort, she said over the coming weeks I would be a new woman :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D,I go to the special clinic every six weeks for a while....It was such a relief hearing that I could do something about it all.

Sallie lovely to see you chatting again, I am pleased that Alun is well on the road to complete recovery, you too, it will be lovely that you will be able to get out and about now He is driving , I too regret I didnt carry on driving still cant go back so onwards and upwards ;-) ;-) ;-)

I have been making card again after a short break ,all of one day ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
now I have another boxful of christmas cards and more to come...
I have had to reorder more card blanks and do some recycling of last years cards.

but I love it :-D :-D :-D :-D

Mo you are a wonder woman, do you never stop!!!
I was sorry to read that Lily is still waiting to have some help, its not good and I am sure it not good for you either we never stop worrying about our children and the littlies. so my lovely friends I will say bye bye for now, take care

Hello girls,

Ann, thank you for the birthday card, I received it on Wednesday morning. I love the photo of the flower on the front of it, you take some really wonderful photos....wish I could say the same about Alun and myself. lol!!

I must have a look at your photo blog once I have finished on here. It sounds as though your back garden is like ours, colourful, but it looks very untidy.

Mo, glad that you have finished your drive, as you say it makes your back ache to do,but it looks lovely once it is done. Alun has done over half of ours, so still has to finish it, hopefully he will manage to get it done over the weekend, if it doesn't rain, of course.

I'm sorry to hear that Lilly still hasn't seen anyone, they really are taking their time sending her an appointment for an assessment, let's hope that she will get one soon.

Sylvia, pleased to hear that you had the all clear at the hospital and hope that your back and aching joints are much better now.

Jean, I now have my card making back upstairs, as Jennie and Michael are now living in their own place again, they moved out two weeks ago today. It is funny without them being here after 14 months, we especially miss Jay ( their dog ) there was always a welcome home after we had been out.

Can't get over that you and J have been living at your new place for almost a year, the time has gone so quickly.

Alun, had his post op assessment three weeks ago, everything is fine, thank goodness,he still has to take most of his medication until the end of the month and he has to go to physiotherapy for cardiac rehabilitation, every Wednesday and Friday at Ilkeston Hospital, for six weeks. He can also drive again so can get there without having to rely on Jennie taking him. Many times since Alun had his operation I have wished that I had carried on with driving lessons years ago and had passed my driving test.

It is nine months since I started seeing the CMHT and although they tell me I have taken tiny steps towards managing my illness, it seems to me most of the time, that I have taken one tiny step forward and two bigger steps back.

My cousin that had the two major operations within two days of each other last November, died three weeks ago. She had cancer of the womb so had to have a hysterectomy, they told her that she was clear of it, but five weeks ago they told her that it had gone into her pelvic bone, which apparently they had warned her about. It came as a shock to all the family as she died a lot sooner than we were told she would, but at least she didn't suffer too long, so it was a blessing.

My niece (brother's) daughter, gave birth to her baby son three days after the funeral. Her and her partner have named him Charlie after my sister-in law's brother, whose middle name is Charles, as he has terminal cancer and has got a very short time left now.

Well, I must finish now, starting to lose my concentration, so better go before it goes completely. lol!!!

Love, Sallie. xxx

Oh dear me, we are slipping down the boards again.

This nice weather is great, but, the migraine caused by the humidity is awful.

It has taken me two days to clear the drive of moss and weeds, and cor lummy, my back is aching, but, it's all done now, and it looks GREAT.

Have a great weekend everyone, hope to hear from you soon, hugs Mo xxx

Good to know for you Sylvia, hope the pain in your joints soon eases though.

I think Raonic did very well, one to watch for the future. I am not a fan of Murray but it was good to see UK win something for a change!

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 13 Jul 2016 00:50

re the tennis ............... I wish Raonic could have done better :-D

still, he's young, and it was only his first time in a Wimbledon Final

I got a clean bill of health yesterday, after suffering through a colonoscopy and an endoscopy ........ they did one, then turned the bed around and did the other :-D

They took some tissue for biopsy, and I have to go to my GP in 2 weeks to get the full report.

The worst was that I spent about 2 hours lying on my left side, and was in a lot of pain yesterday evening as my OA-affected joints and back really didn't like that!

Still it's all over now, and I know I apparently don't have a problem

I think the rain has encouraged triffids in the garden Mo.
Such a shame that when families split up grandparents often get sidelined. Poor Lillie must wonder where you are.

Mo in Kent Report 11 Jul 2016 15:35

I do hope Sylvia gets on o.k today, oooh I feel for her, bless her cotton socks.

Yes Jean, Andy Murray did extremely well, and wasn't he a proud man having done it.
It's so annoying how badly the disabled are being treated. D works hard, despite her disability, and yet gets penalised for it.
There are so many people who are getting benefits, who know how to work the system.
Many years ago, Roly was made redundant, and he had to sign on for what little we were entitled.
He observed so many people arriving in big cars, parking up,and changing their children into old clothes, and walking to the job center to get as much as they could out of the system....disgusting.
There was no way we would have lowered ourselves to this level.

Sallie my lickle love, sorry to have to say that there is no advancement on the Lilly front.
Now that her Mum and Dad are separated, we only get to hear our sons side of the story, and then he has to fight to get any information from his soon to be ex wife.
We don't see very much of her, and it breaks my heart, as I miss her so much.

Ooh thank the lord I am not the only one getting forgetful Ann.
I am feeling exhausted at the moment, I have not long since come in from the garden.
My honeysuckle has gone crazy this year, and I have just had a fight to trim it down a little.
The perfume from it is wonderful, but it's growing through the fences into the gardens adjoining us.

Going to make a cuppa now, time to refresh myself. Take care my darlinks,Hugs Mo xxx

Sallie I had a look back on page 2 I mentioned that I had a lovely card off you, as usual it was a lovely one thank you. J has been complaing of feeling tired he wondered if being 82 had anything to do with it ;-) ;-) ;-) he has had quite a few migranes latley and bad headaches so it back to see the doctor,

D has had her mobility car taken off her, bit of a shock, so she has had buy one now and get a smaller scooter, she also has to reaply for her blue badge, all because she manages to get to work daily you would never think she has M/S and is adiabetic :-| :-|
it seems 14000 cars have been taken back, that wasnt widley known, sneaky ;-) ;-)
rant over nothing can be done about it............

I am off to bed, its early starts every day carer comes 9.00pm usually....

Sylvia I don't think I fancy either :-(

Mo it comes with age this loss of memory! :-D I didn't have Sallie's birthday on the camera, Ithink I have in the past relied on you or Jean mentioning it.

Jean, you do have an exciting social life. I have cards left from ladt Christmas but have not started making them this year yet.

Sallie, Iam sure the time will come when you will say "I know what I'll do, I'll make some cards." So don't get rid of anything. As Jean said, hope Alun has recovered from the op ok.

Hi girls,

Mo, hope all is okay with you, Roly and all the family. I also hope that things are getting better for Lilly and that she has now been referred to a Psychiatrist or Psychologist and has started having the help she needs.

Jean, hope you received your card from us and that you had a lovely birthday. Also hope that both you, J and D are all okay.

Are you still managing to make some cards? I really must try to start making them again, I have been thinking about not making them anymore, but then I feel if I do that I will regret it, so will hang onto everything for now, anyway.

Ann, hope that you and T are both okay and that all is well with your family, too.

Yes Jem and I were on a good shift at 2.35 a.m. this morning. It was a nice surprise
seeing her post back to me at that time. lolol!! It was good knowing that I wasn't on my own, I expect Jem was as surprised to see my post too, especially since I hadn't been on GR for a long while.

Huia, it looks as though you are a very busy lady...it's good that you have an interest to keep you occupied. I hope that everything is okay for you and that you are keeping well.

Well, I must go now, will try and write a message again soon giving you all the news.

Take care everyone.
