Thank you Jean for the lovely flowers that you have sent me on behalf of all my friends on here........it was very thoughtful of you.

Also thank you all for your lovely Christmas cards. and for your replies to Jennie's message.

According to the Psychiatrist and my CPN I have made a small step forward, but still have a very long way to go.I am very lucky to have such lovely caring people there to help me and also made some very nice friends at the hospital where I go for anxiety management, all suffering with mental health problems too.We all watch out for each other.

Hope that you and all your families are all okay.

Hope to be able to to chat to you all again before Christmas.

Love, Sallie. xxx

AnninGlos Report 16 Dec 2015 22:02

True Sylvia but he could have charged more if he'd taken everything into account, bearing in mind he was here for 12 and a half days.

SylviaInCanada Report 16 Dec 2015 21:43

it's those little extras that add the pennies!!!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 16 Dec 2015 21:10

Realised it wasn't under the estimate it was about £300 over because of extras like the grout he got for the tiles for us. Still good though because he did lots of little extra jobs. Like supplying and fitting new skirting boards.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 16 Dec 2015 20:18

Yes Sylvia he isn't too bad at getting things finished, gets ratty when things don't go right though.

Jean yes the tiles are white with a sort of grey smear across them, very faint. The bath is a shower bath.

Hi everyone

one lovely sunny day after several wet grey ones.

However, rain down here means lots of snow up on the local mountains. I think they might have a bumper season over Christmas and New Year

Ann ......... glad your renos are almost finished. Is T good at getting the little jobs done??

I hate to admit it, but I still one windowsill that OH has not finished after our reno back in 1977 :-0

It needs a little bit adding underneath it ............. which he doesn't seem to see as "urgent" ............ or necessary?

Word today is that our friend had a bad day yesterday. We're beginning to wonder if she is going to fade even faster than we thought

Ann the bathroom looks lovely, easy to keep clean and sparkling, are the tiles white?I like the shape of the bath, we have a wet room in quite a big bathroom,I have help to shower as I am very nervous of falling, but the ladies are very good even though they sometimes get wet...lol...we are hoping to have new furniture after christmas, there are quite a few things we still need kitchen stuff mainly...it was all done in a rush, so lots of stuff came with us we wouldnt have brought normally..... still nice to have a spend :-D :-D :-D

I want to take some pics of the cards I have made for you to see, when I get D put them on, so fingers x she will come soon....

jean christmas lunch sounded lovely.

The bathroom is finished. Alan came this morning and finished off a few bits, and cleared the builders yard from the front of the house. It came in under the estimate so I was well pleased, all settled up. so start saving for the next project now.

Photos on the blog. Awkward to take because it is very dull and dark here today and didn't want to use flash because of the reflections off the tiles.

Sallie, thank you for your lovely card, i really like that one, very Christmassy.

I have spent the time since Alan left (11.15) putting all the bits back in the bathroom. T is at golf otherwise I'd be able to do a bit more as he has a windowsill to paint, a small cupboard to put up, toilet roll holder and mirror etc etc to put up. I was not best pleased that he went to golf but he'd put his name down weeks ago thinking Alan would have finished before today.

Were is everyone, We had a three course christmas lunch yesterday lovely meal but too much for many of the residents, it was all free and if you cant go down it was served in your home, the carers waited on, they are lovely ladies and full of fun....
funny how very tired we were afterwards, all the chattering and carols being played,
we both felt shattered later on....

No idea what to get the family, it gets harder and harder, they will keep buying stuff

Thank you, Ann xx

She has no family up here ............ she married for the first time at the age of 50, he was 49 and a first marriage for him as well. So no children. Her brother is 2 years older, lives in the US and is in very poor health ........ actually she went down to stay with him back in September to allow her sis-i-l to go away 'cos he has to have someone around. Then this all blew up after she got back.

so the support is all from friends, some long time like us and some much more recent.

I've just heard that she has had the nurses and visitors all laughing with her quips and jokes ........... so maybe the re-hydration will help. Palliative care may translate to her being at home with private full time care.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 12 Dec 2015 20:59

Oh Sylvia, how sad for your friend and for you. I hope they can control the pain. Especially sad this time of year, I feel for her family and friends as this is where we were last year with our son in law <3

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 12 Dec 2015 18:42

other news from here .................

we're back in the rain and wind :-(

Our friend is not doing well ......... she is now on morphine for the pain, and is in Emergency for the weekend as the doctor thinks she is dehydrated, so they are trying to re-hydrate her.

Between ourselves ............. I think she will be in palliative care soon. Things are progressing that fast.

Just heard from Jennie Sallies daughter, sorry to hear Sallie is stlll unwell, its not good time for her at the moment, she is facing a big struggle and we need to continue with all our thoughts and prayers for her and the family, it is heartbreaking to hear she is having such a struggle, also Alun has heard about his op but waiting for a definate date, so that doesnt help our Sallie worrying about him just adds to her ongoing troubles. she does have to see various doctors who will be able to help her, our thoughts and our prayers go out to Alun, Jennie and the family and especially to our lovely friend , keep fighting Sallie you can and will beat it all,

much love and special hugs , Jeanxxxx <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
