Huia Report 9 Apr 2016 06:32

I havent had any more of those calls since the time I said "if you dont speak to me I will scream". They promptly hung up, so maybe it was some teenagers being stupid. But I must try not to answer my phone so quickly in future. It is right beside me and I can usually pick it up after one ring (when I have climbed down from the ceiling! - I have the volume up so loud).

I went to a multi-class reunion today. Because our numbers have been dwindling, for the last year or two we have included the class that followed us but this time we also had the 2 classes who came before us, that is, the form 2 classes for 1947-50. Quite a good crowd.

Hello ladies.
Yes Sylvia, the separation is rather acrimonious our son, has the girls every Wednesday, and every other Saturday, Mummy is being rather nasty at the minute, so we are grateful for any time with the girls that we can grab.
It's made difficult to see Lilly, as she is in full time school, but we do see Ava more frequently, but as they are on half term holidays at the minute, it's made easier, so we are hoping to see them this coming Wednesday.
Unfortunately here in the U.K, children seem to slip through the net when problems arise when they maybe suffering from Autistic Spectrum symptoms, I certainly wish we were in your country to get her the help she needs.

Huia, keep that whistle handy love, and give it a good blow, I don't think you would get into trouble, after all, you are not asking for the nuisance calls are you.

Ann, have a safe journey home love, mind you, you have probably arrived by now, as I have just noticed the date....der stupid me.

I have spent another day planting in the garden, Fuchsia's and more pansy's.
Have a lovely weekend girls, take care. Mo.

AnninGlos Report 7 Apr 2016 19:02

Huia we have an answer phone and don't answer the phone unless we recognise a voice. Nuisance calls soon ring off. :-)

Mo, in Dorset at thr monent but sll ok. Back tomorrow.(for a while)

SylviaInCanada Report 7 Apr 2016 00:29

Huia ............

If it is one of the computer-generated calls, there literally is almost nothing you can do.

There is no point in putting yourself on the ex-directory list ............. because these calls come from outside the country (most are from India), and they are not subject to the laws of any other country

You could set up your phone not to accept any calls from numbers that it does not recognise, although I don't know how that works if a friend calls from somewhere other than their own phone.

You'll just have to join the rest of us who are driven mad by these calls ............... or wait until there have been at least 3 rings before you answer the phone :-D

Mo ...........

I'm glad that you got to see the two girls today. Is the separation acrimonious, so that you have problems seeing them?

It is terrible how slow it can be to get the help that children need. My daughter really started pushing about 18 months before our grandson was to enter Kindergarten because she was sure that he needed help, even though she didn't know what was wrong or what help would be needed.

Luckily, she lives in a school district where the authorities are very proactive ....... she got the necessary visit with a paediatrician very quickly, and the paediatrician said basically that she didn't know what was wrong "but we'll refer him for assessment". It then took almost a year to get the full assessment ............... about 2 months before he was to start at Kindy!

Support was in place by the time he went to the school in September ............. mainly help with behavioural problems, but also in stress release, etc. They even have a stationary bike at the back of the room that the kids can get on if they're feeling stressed!

She certainly wouldn't be anywhere near that stage of help if she lived where we live!

Huia Report 6 Apr 2016 23:27

Mo, I did think of a whistle, in fact I have put one here by the phone, but then I wondered if I could be accused of doing something illegal. Anyway, my scream is probably just as piercing.

Mo in Kent Report 6 Apr 2016 21:47

Huia, have you got a whistle, if you have give it a big blow when they refuse to answer next time love. But as Sylvia has said, it could be a computer generated call, we very often get them, they are a blessed nuisance, especially if you rush to answer the call when you are busy doing something important.

We have had a wonderful day, our Lilly and Ava came for a visit with their Daddy.
Lilly is still hyperactive, but her speech has come on in leaps and bounds since she has been at school.
Nothing has happened re her seeing a psychologist, it's a real shame how these things take such a long time to get sorted, she will be at secondary school before something gets done at this rate.

I hope everyone is well, only we are missing quite a few of our friends at the moment.
Take care dear friends, hugs from me to you, Mo xxx

Huia Report 6 Apr 2016 21:18

Sylvia, I have never heard of that. I might talk to the telecom people some time, ask what can be done about it.

SylviaInCanada Report 6 Apr 2016 20:00

Huia ............

are you sure it is not a computer-generated call, where the system calls several numbers at the same time? The first one to pick up the phone gets the call (usually selling something or that famous "something wrong with your computer), the others all get nothing at the other end.

Huia Report 6 Apr 2016 07:29

For several days now, my phone has rung in the afternoon or early evening. I pick it up and say good afternoon/evening. There is no reply. I have even shouted HULLO. But then a click as they hang up. This afternoon I said "if you are not going to talk to me I will scream" and they promptly hang up. I doubt if this is a criminal action, just a nuisance. Next time I answer the phone I wont say anything but will moan as if I am in agony, see what happens. I think I will have to get on to telecom to see if they can trace the calls.

AnninGlos Report 5 Apr 2016 18:40

It was lovely today and we went to Abbotsbury gardens where the Rhododendrons, Camelias and Magnolias were lovely while there we saw six Red Kites overhead and in the garden a beautiful male pheasant and a Golden pheasant. We came back to Burton B and ate our rolls in the NT car park by the sea. There was a cold wind but we were able to sit out by the car where it was sheltered to eat. Then sat in the garden when we got back. Tomorrow and the rest of the week it looks like rain though which is a shame.

I am sure one of our dear friends will come up with a suitable name Ann.

Well done Ann in Glos for our nudge up,I have been a bit remiss in posting.

I have been busy out in the garden today.
We went to the Nursery and bought a few plants, only Pinks and Pansies, we shall have to go back next week for some more, so many of the planters are still empty, and we need a bit more colour out there, it's mostly greenery with the shrubs etc.
And guess what, I had fed and watered the new plants, and now it's tipping it down with rain LOL

Ann in Glos, I hope your journey went well, now enjoy yourselves love.
I hope your grandson is home and doing well now.
