Muffy, you have put it so much more beautifully than I have been able to. How I have missed her contact during the past year, always the voice of reason when I was chuntering about something. Just reading back through her PMs made me smile. Even when she was facing the AML at first she would push her major problems away to answer my minor ones. I don't think, in all my 70+ years I have ever had or ever will have a friend like Daff. Which is strange when you think in the five years that we 'knew' each other much of the friendship was by PMs. (I always, always wished I didn't have a hearing problem so that I could have spoken on the phone but e mailing was so much easier. Yes Muffy I guess we will all in our own ways selfishly miss her. I shall always cherish the letter card I had from her in september 2010 (she was late with my birthday present which she and R hand delivered) which thanked me for being there for her. I thank her! <3 <3

Sadly the only drink I can raise at the mo is a cup of tea....but I'll remedy that as soon as I can !!!

When I think back ..though I remember laughing my socks off with Daff.on many occasions ..Peterborough sunstroke springs to mind first I have to say lol...what also comes to mind are the times when I'd have a thread up ...if I were in some kind of dilemma or having a hard time..... Daff would always be the first to PM me with support, wise words and sometimes uncomfortable truths, that were put in such a caring and gentle way, I didn't mind hearing them even though I didn't really want to.

She had that knack of just making things seem less daunting.....I remember going through an agony of indecision with my poor old boy dog ..knowing in my heart it was time to let him go ...but too scared to make the final decision....and Daff was the one who said *You know you've made your mind up really...you've just got to find the strength to see it through..you know what you have to do* and she was absolutely right.

Many is the time these past few months I really wanted that gentle straight talking lady to take me in hand and put things in perspective again....and I shall selfishly miss that ability of hers immensely....amongst her many other qualities of course.

I will also miss her warped sense of humour and her special skill of giving a scathing reply to someone in an airy and humourous way...but managing to getting her point across beautifully.

GR has lost a real character. ...and I (and many many others) have lost a wonderful friend.

*raises a mug of tea* ...to you Daff........thank you for your friendship and kindness...I'll miss you x

Morning all, I will raise a glass for "our Daff"....strange, I was cooking mince for bolognaise yesterday and I remembered somewhere on GR Daff posting that she liked to cook it for a long time.
Liz, the Llanelli meet was my 1st as well, but I met Daff here in Swansea (The meet was really in her honour) and again later at her home on her birthday, I've been trawling this computer for all the pics I have of her. I remember many pages back, Daff saying how much she loved Mr Cowell and we all laughed with her!

i arranged a meet for when I was on holiday in Llanelli, in September 2007, and several people came along, including of course, Daff. I have some nice photos of the folk there and one of several of us as we left, again including Daff. Not sure if Daff had been to other meets before then but she did say that I had put the idea into her head and she? arranged other meets in Wales?

Lizx

When Daff was first poorly I got Simon Cowell's management company to send her a signed photo of him which she framed and said she took into hospital with her.

Just popped in to say I am raising my glass to Daff before I go off to bed.
I was making cards this evening for a friend and was thinking of the laughs we had with Daff telling us of her scrap pages with the glitter, glue and how she got tangled with the double sided tape. she had such a way with words.

Goodnight all.

Rest peacefully Daff.

A tiny white feather landed at my feet this morning when I was having a stroll around our local Churchyard. It was so weird as I was thinking of Daff at the time .I had to bring it home.

I remeber part of the "uniform" was pink cowgirl hats, as my daughter had just had her hen weekend. I still have several of the hats in a wardrobe(I kept them for dressing up for childminding). I think I shall have to keep one for ever now as I picture Daff in all the glory of the army's uniform topped off by the pink stetson !!!!

Memories of Daff, even though I never met her in person.

Because of the new message system I was able to look back at the lists of messages that Daff and I exchanged over 4+ years. They cover 83 pages.

........she did love Simon didn't she? :-)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 22 Nov 2011 10:37

Lol! I was reading through some old pms from Daff and one was about the uniforms, she said we must like her to wear such awful combination of colours, or something along those lines.

Morning Ann, my bottle is nearly finished :-)...As far as I can remember I met Daff at two Peterborough Meets (beautifully organised by Muffy).the first when she was really late as she was caring for one of her sick cats. Both occasions were great fun and have left wonderful memories. BCXX <3

daff was ALWAYS late lol, the first peterborough meet she attended, we were more of less leaving as she arrived haha x

her belly dancing was second to none :-D

AnninGlos Report 22 Nov 2011 09:23

I have raised many glasses so far BC and I will gladly pop in here and raise another. What is so nice is that Daff attended many meets, so even if we can't share in the memories of one many of us will have memories of others. I'm not sure how many she did attend but you have mentioned Peterborough. Then I know of Swansea, where she'd finished her glass of red and decided to dink mine as well Lol!!!. and Newport. There was also Dizzi's birthday meet near Pershore (where she was late because she couldn't find her Sat Nav.) Liz mentioned another Welsh one. any more?
